Code Lyoko: Source (abbreviated CL:S or CLS) is the blanket name for an upcoming set of 3D assets developed by TheAppleFreak for use in Valve Software's [www.sourcefilmmaker.com Source Filmmaker], a 3D animation and rendering software based off of their Source Engine. These assets will be used interchangeably between different projects, such as still images based off of the show or fan content, or for longer animations designed around fan theories or excellent examples of fanfiction.

As of February 8th, 2013, work on several 2D areas is underway, as well as some basic work in the virtualization visual effect.

Development

Initial work on CLS began in late January 2013, with an estimated milestone deadline for the Factory assets as well as the Jeremy model to be before April 22nd. On February 8th, a video showing off a concept virtualization was uploaded to YouTube, with a promise to improve upon the effect.

Visual Style

CLS will have a different visual style from both the original 2D animated series and Evolution. The goal is to develop it in that each area is immediately recognizable as that area, regardless of whether the viewer is familiar with only one series, but to let it have its own identity.
