I'm just wondering... what is an affiliate and how do you become one (for Lyoko Freak)?

I know that outside of the Internet, an affiliate is like an associate or ally.

Yeah, it's basically the same thing. It just means that you support LF in some way (could mean you donated to LF or did something else to help out).

The following quote comes from the LF.net FAQ page:

Q. Will you add my website to your links page?
A. Well, I won't make any guarantees, but you can certainly send me your link and I'll check it out. However, if your link isn't added to the page, please don't be hurt. I generally don't add links unless the site is an extremely useful resource for fans and/or contains unique information about the show that you can't find in many other places. Even if it doesn't, sites with a lot of good fanart or fanfic on it usually spark my interest. =) I also don't mean to be nit-pickey, but if your layout makes it extremely difficult to read the text on your pages, I probably won't link back to you just because people really hate visiting sites that aren't viewer-friendly.

I believe this is how one would go about becoming an affiliate.
