External hard drive help

Please help me i have just got a external hard drive box for my old laptop's hard drive but when i try to open any folder in the Jason Wyatt folder in the Documents and Settings folder on my old hard drive it will not let me in. Can someone help me.

NTFS and USER permissions are dissalowing you from accessing user files. You can boot off of the drive to log in (if its not usb?), or you can format. If it is USB, let me know.
