I just watched your video. Before I tell you what I think, let me just say this. I think the death threats and baseless harassment you've been getting over the past few days is disgusting and absolutely reprehensible. It is a sign of immaturity on the part of Tek Links supporters and the Code Lyoko fanbase as a whole to actually threaten your life over an internet website. The rightness/wrongness of your actions notwithstanding, these threats and harassment need to stop, and stop now. That said, I do think that you knew what you were getting into when you took the actions that you did, and you have absolutely no right to lump in the legitimate, calm, polite criticism your actions are getting with the death threats/harassment. One of your friends threatened me on Deviantart after my appeal to you to state your reasons for reporting Tek Links. Several TL supporters and others critical of your actions, myself included, have been nothing but fair and rational with you. I'm glad that you decide to make your reasons known, and for that, I thank you.

Let me just say this about Tek Links and all sites like it. Sites that force you to register/post on forums/click on ads in order to receive content... to put it bluntly, they SUCK. When I encounter such a site, I use any and all measures at my disposal to circumvent such obstacles to gain the content, as, while I do believe fostering a community is important, you cannot force a community on people who do not want it. People who wish to post and be social will do so, you do not have to dangle the carrot of content above a community's head. Also, and I believe this is Tek Links' gravest sin: watermarking copyrighted material. About two years back, YTMND (which I am a member of) and several other sites participated in a forums raid on Ebaumsworld after they had stolen original content from YTMND and had watermarked it with the Ebaums' logo. As creators of the contest that Ebaums stole, we had a legitimate reason to go after their site, though we merely disrupted it for a few days, we did not destroy it completely. As holder of the copyright for Code Lyoko, Moonscoop had a legitimate reason to take down Tek Links.

With that said, Hikaru, you did not have a single legitimate reason to take down Teklinks, which makes your actions in doing so utterly reprehensible. Your first problem with the site, namely Warton, was a legitimate one. If he did share confidential and private information about your friend (which you've convinced me he did), you were a very good friend in taking action against him. Reporting him, trying to speak with him, all your actions in that situation were correct. The fact that the other admins did not punish Warton, however, does not give you the right to take out your vendetta against him on the Tek Links community as a whole. It's a fact of life: people get screwed. The sooner you realize that, the better. Now, with that out of the way, reasons two and three... and when I heard them, I laughed out loud... then, I felt disgusted. Your second beef, that you were not allowed into the Intellectuals forum despite being "smarter than Warton", has to be the pettiest ****ing thing I have ever heard in my life. I have an IQ of 143 and am acing all of my college classes, but you don't see me whining about not being allowed into Big Kids Only, do you? Had you met the requirements for the Intellectuals forum by being a mature human being (which your actions in reporting Tek Links clearly indicate that you are not), you might've been allowed in. Your third complaint, that your AMV only got one reply and that reply was deleted, is just as bad. I spent six months working on a 345,000 word (longer than Order of the Phoenix by about 60,000 words) Teen Titans fanfic that only got a few short replies at the Robin and Starfire forum. Did I take out my rage upon them? Yes, but only in words. I did not report the forum's generous cache of Teen Titans episode videos to Warner Brothers, nor do I ever intend to. Those people are my friends, and even if they weren't, I would never raise a finger to strike at their site in rage. I am not that kind of a person, not the sort of petty individual who would take his problems with one person out on an entire community.

But you, Hikaru, clearly are. Your mentality, selfish and disgusting as it is, is extremely dangerous. "My life sucks, so I'm going to take it out on the rest of the world". That's the kind of mentality that led to the Virginia Tech massacre, the kind of mentality that led to the mall shootings yesterday where eight people died. I don't give a **** what problems you have with anyone, YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO TAKE THOSE PROBLEMS OUT ON INNOCENT PEOPLE. And anyone who believes the ends justified the means, about how "those people were hurting Moonscoop by giving those episodes out for free", let me tell you something. An action done with a motive of malice or greed, like Hikaru's, is an immoral action whatever the consequence. When we went into Iraq, we got rid of a horrible dictator in Saddam Hussein, and Bush claimed it was to "liberate the Iraqi people". That's bullcrap, he went in for oil and we all know it. Saddam is gone, but the action of invading Iraq has left misery in its wake. Obviously, Hikaru's actions are on a much more trivial level, but the result in terms of net gain versus net loss are similar: thousands of people are left without a place to go to talk about something they enjoy with their friends. People in countries where Code Lyoko has yet to air and may never will are left without a way to watch the show they love.

It sounds to me, Hikaru, from watching that video, that you thought about what you did and carefully deliberated and planned your actions. But did you REALLY think about what would happen when you reported Tek Links? Did you really think about how much you might've hurt those thousands of Code Lyoko fans, innocent victims of a petty internet dispute between you and Warton? I don't think you did, Hikaru, and that is the tragedy in all of this. I hope one day you're mature enough to realize that.

You have your whole life ahead of you, there's much much more for you than being labeled an "intellectual" in some internet forum. You think you're really smart? Go out there and prove it. The rewards available for you in the real world are worth so much more.

P.S. I wrote this BEFORE seeing you brandishing the knife in your video. I understand you might be "joking", but the fact that you're so casual about such things makes me seriously question your mental stability. I'm not saying this to insult you, I'm genuinely worried for you.

There's a difference. Clicking on ads just benefits the site owner. Registration/posting benefits the site. I can't speak for everyone but I would never have joined TL if they had not (back when they were on proboards) required me to register to download stuff... but I quickly realized I wanted to stay. I'll bet I'm not the only one.

That's fine, I'm sure my opinion differs from a lot of people's on the matter. I simply wanted to make it clear that I'm no TL supporter, I disagree with Hikaru's actions on an entirely moralistic standpoint.

I agree with RySenkari for the most part. It's utterly reprehensible to destroy a website because of a personal conflict with an admin on that site. That caused a considerable amount of collateral damage to the other staff and users of the site, not the least of which is that the Teklinks community has been ripped asunder. And never mind the whole complaint about not being allowed into a certain forum! That's just ridiculous, no matter how you look at it. It's just a single forum on a single message-board, it's not like it was the end of the world if you didn't get into it. And furthermore, I find it very ironic that in order to prove that you deserved to get into that forum, you had to shut the whole site down (yes, that's an exaggeration. So what? It's apt). Ever hear of a Pyrrhic victory?

As far as the whole complaint about not getting comments on your AMV goes, do you have any idea of just how much creative content tends to be posted on sites like this? Sometimes people get comments, sometimes they don't. But that's no reason to ruin things for everyone else who was also posting creative content on Teklinks.

I'd ask whether you thought this whole thing was worth it, but I'm afraid I know what your answer would be. So I'll end with this. I'm just thankful that this was on the internet, rather than you acting it out in real life. Because there's no second chances in real life. If you learn that what you did was petty, immature, and selfish, it might mitigate what you did to learn that lesson.

RySenkari, for the love of the forum, shut up! We don't want to hear your every little remark about what this one girl does! It's a site, and you guys're taking it too far now. And for someone screaming you have no right to take things out oninnocent people, you sure seem to be doing a lot of it.

And actually, I'm getting fustrated with all of you. This is about Teklinks, a forum that was shut down a while ago. It's not for the harassing, proomoting of harassment, or the REJECTION of harassment. *eyes*

If you're going to take it out some where, then don't take it out any where. Not don't take it out here, just swallow the pill already.

That's the thing, though. She isn't innocent. Hikaru's actions and justification of said actions are at the heart of the matter, as those actions are the reason we're even having this discussion about Tek Links in the first place. If talking about Hikaru's actions isn't allowed, then this entire discussion should probably be locked.

I'm not harassing Hikaru, though. I'm being very calm and rational with her, and trying to resolve this situation as peacefully as possible. I personally thought I offered up a very good analysis of the whole situation.

I hope I don't get in trouble, especially now that I have a moderator mad at me >_<;;;

Yes, you have.

Here's the thing, though. I gotta side with Hikaru on this. What TL was doing was illegal, even if MoonScoop turned a blind eye, they didn't (unless I'm wrong, and I'm guessing I prolly am) condone it or approve it. That's not to ssay Hikaru is the noble White Knight. From what I'm seing, she did it out of spite and just to get back at Warton. I also am kinda wondering at Hikaru's mental stability with the knife and all the disorders she listed on Youtube.

comex, it is acceptable either way, or at least that's what I've gathered in my experience. You spell it one way, other people may choose to spell it another. And there's no need to get all huffy about such a small issue. It can be spelled either way, end of story.

Not being huffy, I'm just rofling because on the site, when you saw "Teklinks" you always knew it was a noobish post, but here are all these smart posts and everyone's calling it Teklinks :D

I mean, come on, do people call this forum CodeXana/LyokoFreak?

Actually, we used to HAVE a domain that was "Lyoko Freak" so there's really no argument there.

As for the rest of your post, I don't care if it was a "noobish" one or not. And people can spell it however they wish, because it goes both ways. Heh, I said it "goes both ways". There's really no point in bringing it up, in a joking manner OR a serious one.

Okay guys...things seem to be getting a little overly heated here. *sweatdrops*

Yes, considering the topic, that's understandable...but if you guys are going to debate and respond to each other, please make sure that you are fully reading out and understanding what the other is saying.

I know its incredibly hard to tell a person's mood or even "volume" level, so to speak, in a written post but try to refrain from shouting at each other over this, or at least giving the idea that you're shouting. Bolded, enlarged, or even colored text sometimes can give that illusion, so just be careful about how you use them.

Also, as was said before, please don't put words in other people's mouths. Before you debate them or scold them for a point made or an opinion expressed, please make sure you've read out what they've said in its entirety, and tried to "hear" it, as if it were a voice.

Does that make any sense at all? ^^;;

I just don't want this thread to turn into a war thread between the people who are angry with Hikaru and the people who aren't, as well as the people who miss TL, and those who don't.

Let's all try to at least be civil about this, yes? Thanks. ^^

So comex, when is the site coming back up? If you didn't receive a real threat from Moonscoop chances are they don't care, or didn't get a chance to see the site before it went down. Just get a new domain and don't tell Hikaru. I would say probably you should just take the watermarks off the videos and you'd be ok.

The fact is that anyone could have reported your site at any time. If you took the site down just due to the threat of a single, lonely, immature, selfish, petty, petty, petty girl, you're probably making a bigger deal out of it than you need to. It's standard practice for a company to send a cease and desist letter before taking any real action, so if you're afraid of them suing you, don't worry. Just leave the site up until you do get the cease & desist notice, at which point you probably should take it down. But if you've received no such warning from the real copyright holders of CL, you've got no real problem other than an immature forum member (and what forum doesn't have that).

Something else I'm curious about - what was the genesis of Tech Links? Like for instance, this forum was spawned from the refugees of TvTome. Where did the creators of TL come from? I'm just wondering.

A lot of people, actually. Myself included. While Ii didn't get episode downloads from there, I DID post around there a lot. That was one of my main places for CL fanfiction and news. Now that its gone, its a good chance I'll NEVER know the ending to some fanfics, and that makes me mad. Now I'v reanted at Hikaru plenty, and am bored with it now. Personally, I think she's insane, and shouldbe reported for theatening everyone. I don't care what disorders or illnesses she has, that was serious disgusting. And to use those as reasons for the threat, that makes her pathetic. She acted upon very selfish reasons, and shouldn't have done that. Now, don't get me wrong, TL has NEVER been my favorite forum at all. I've had bad experiances with it, but did I ever once do everything in my power to kill it? No, I didn't. I got over the problems. And Warton can be a prick sometimes, but he isn't that bad of a guy...... He did not deserve what she did, and she is really selfish for even doing that.

And now, since I notice I'm rambling, I'll stop for now. See what ohers say/

Precisely. It's just really stupid. And you're just making thing's worse by sitting on your salty butts blaming it all on one person, regardless of what actually happened.

And I'm still seeing a lot of Hostility towards one member. If you take this any furthur, I'm going to lock the topic. Calling Hikaru petty isn't going to bring your site back. And if you're not careful, someone could go after you for harassment.

That's one thing that TekLinks didn't have,

It's one forum that had the episodes and other illegal downloads as the main attraction and give it members, forcibly. Now it's shutdown, and it ain't coming back. Crud like this happens in life whether you want it to or not. You can bicker about it all you want, but it's not going to change a dang thing. Ya'll just kicking a dead horse. There are still plenty active CL forums out there for you discuss CL and other subjects. M'kay?

I'd be surprised if there wasn't some hostility towards Hikaru. It's human nature, and for better or for worse, people look for someone to blame. And when it's justified, at least in part, then it's even easier. When you get right down to it, one person's actions precipitated this. Sure, it may have happened anyway at some point in the future, but acting like the fact that it might have happened anyway at some point justifies or excuses how it happened now is kind of silly.

And obviously there are people who still care. If there weren't, this topic would have died already. Telling them to "get over it" is not going to work, and in fact is more likely to breed resentment than anything. I do agree, though, that it's not right to be insulting or belligerent towards Hikaru or anyone else. "Life is 10% of what happens to you, and 90% of how you react to it." And there are an awful lot of people who are reacting really badly right now. They need time to get over it, and letting them talk about it without rancor is one way to give them that time.

Kind of hard to get over it, as it was the only place that you could get certain episodes of CL (since CN apparently doesn't want the show anymore), and it's now gone. If there was another way to do that it wouldn't be a big deal.

But I think they acted prematurely if they shut it down without receiving an actual Cease & Desist request. If they still haven't received one and they brought it back today, they'd probably have no trouble at all.
