Screencap Trouble

Postby Carth » Thu Jun 01, 2006 9:36 pm

Yeah. Y'see...

For months now, I've been using a combination of two programs, DVD Decrypter and DGMPEGDec, to take some very nice screencaps. But what I recently found out is that DVD Decrypter, which puts DVD footage on a computer (bypassing security devices) is illegal and has been for a year.

That is, it's illegal in its country of origin, the UK. I'm in the US, no clue about its status here. But I'm not taking any chances.

I want to find out a new, legal way to get screencaps off a DVD, or at least a tape (no clue how to do that without transplanting to a DVD). Does anyone have any clue how to do that?

I'm a minor. I have no clue how court works. :D

If it's only illegal in the UK, then as long as you're in the US, you're safe. :)

With Windows it's Print Screen, I'm pretty sure. I've tried it on Windows Media Player, and it does something to the picture, I dunno! It's weird. When I try and crop it out, it just disappears, and it doesn't move with the rest of the screencap. O__o
