Vista SP1 and XP SP3 Finished

Postby FènéethxAelita » Wed Mar 26, 2008 9:25 am

Vista SP1 works great so far, just about all the glitches have been eliminated and the OS actually takes up 200MB less space, so it runs quite a bit more effiecently. XP SP3 on the other hand, is a pain, since my audio drivers aren't supported, and some programs don't work.

200 MB... less RAM? That would actually interest me in Vista. TThe fact that it took so much RAM was why I stayed with XP, and even 2000.

Well from what I see of the last XP SP3 Release Candidate is was basically a roll-up of all the prior XP patchs with a few new things that you'd get through Automatic Updates anyway. As for Vista SP1 it looks and is running good on my my Ubuntu / Vista laptop.

No, disk space, sorry, but the compressed code make all functions faster, I'm surprised how fast my 1.5 GHz Centrino laptop runs. And yes, SP3 is kinda pathetic.

Edit: Appearantly in a realeased update, the glitches in SP3 were fixed, (YAY, my sound drivers work!) and the system so far is less likely to to have problems, ex: IE7 has less glitches, which were caused by the fact that it was meant for Vista, not XP, as well as Media player 11, this SP is more compatibility and debug based than efficiency, because it runs about the same speed.

Windows will never be fully debugged. It will always crash, and nothing can fix that.
Thats why I switched to Mac.
I really gotta fix up this theme

Yea, um, this topic is a bit old.

this did remind me though, pcworld did a review of vista sp1 and xp sp3. vista sp1 was actually worse, and xp sp3 did nothing to help.

Isn't that just a bit cynical for you to say that, besides how do you know that if you're so dedicated to Macs? I doubt your school computers run SP3. Macs are only for people too lazy to maintain their PC, because they limit your options and make every aspect of the the computer use uniform, it's as if you're setting you're life on "Auto" for the majority of your life, which as of late, too many Americans are doing, pfffftt, they're also unnecessarally expensive because they run with hardware that third-parties have never and will never have the chance to commercialize and make more efficient. Me spend $800 more on a MacBook that was literally advertised in a catalog to have LOWER SPECS than the laptop right beside it? (chuckle) Good Luck. Have fun being a mindless, broke zombie.

I am open to reading the reviews, though; My experience with the service pack may have been caused by changes in my maintainance techniques, which I have made many as of late.

No need to be rude now. Just because you don't like one type of computer doesn't give you the right to insult those who use it. There is no one superior computer or computer system, because everyone has different needs and requirements for their computer.

As for me, I've used a PC, but I need a Mac (specifically a MacBook Pro) because it is the computer that the business I am going to be involved in uses. Mac's tend to run graphics and animation software better than PCs do, and also, I need the Macbook's portability in order to work on the go.

*blinks* ...And that above paragraph might have been a wee bit off-topic... *sweatdrops* Ooops ^^;

At any rate, FènéethxAelita, please do mind your wording. There really isn't any need to be insulting just because someone uses a different system then you (and that goes for everyone. ^^ )

Thanks for resolving that, but he insulted me as well, just for the record.
