Forums...Their Everywhere!!

So this rant is primarily directed towards those who are creating brand new forums on a daily basis through these dime-a-dozen free forum services.

Why? Why do these people have the urge to create brand new forums for every little thing when they can just as easily consolidate everything into one mess? It baffles me to no end. You see, my general take on it all is that I simply do not have the time to keep up with dozens of forums in a single day. As it stands now most of my online time is currently chopped up in the following order (note: percentages may be skewed a bit):

LyokoMUSH: 50%
Lyokofreak: 25%
Tech Links: 15%
DCemulation: 7%
WebcastersUnited: 3% (depends on if there is a reason I have to go there or not)

And I simply do not have time for more forums. If I did, I have a whole mess more already in my favorites I would have listed. Can some of you explain this confusion to me?

Cause it's fun making forums. Not neccessarily everyone has to go to every forum, but we like making them ^_^

I have collaborated everything I'm interested in into one forum: http://ch2005.proboards46.com.
The reason I can do that is because Proboards lets me create sub-boards, so each board on my forum is like a category, and each category is like a separate forum. So it's really a polyforum, many forums put together. Speaking of which, I've got to check my forum!

That's kind of why many people and I who registered to OBK once didn't went there with more frequence. It didn't started too well (fanfiction forums aren't too attractive)... plus, it was ad-sie and boring. Not going to mention more about this, though.

After Lyoko Freak, Tech Links is really good.

LF has the VAs and Big Kids Only.

Amen, mainly cause they can just put a fanfiction section in there! Plus there's a bunch of main fanfiction sites/forums out there.

I used ti be really involved in several forums, but my interests died off. Here's my current usage:

LyokoFreak: 80%
My Avatar Forum: 10%
Others (techlinks, eragon forums, etc) 10%

I have a forum set up at http://lasuperboards.proboards55.com as my all-around board, it has CL, Avatar, computers, and a bunch of random stuff.

As for forums... before, it used to be this way:

LF: 80%
Tv.com: 20%

After November (when I left tv.com... don't feel like going there, unless I'm using someone else's pc)

LF: 100%

Yesterday:

LF: 85%
TL: 15%

This is just talking about forums. 'Cuase if we add other stuff around the net...

I know how you feel. There are so many forums out there and though they may sometimes have a lot of the same things, their posted to by different people. I'm currently a member of four forums and have been ask to join even more, but I've had to turn people down when they ask. I think most people may want to start their own forum because they just want control and some power. That's why all of these new ones have been springing up. I only stay a member of CL.com because even though it may be dumb to some people, it always seems to be the most active of all the forums I visit. My goal is not to just show off my work to a select few, but get the oppinion of as many CL fans as possible. CL.com has a min of 40 people on each night. I can't say the same for LF of TL.

Tech Links - 50% - Because I'm a Mod.
Code Lyoko.com - 25% - To stay in touch with the CL masses.
Lyoko Freak - 24% - The VA's and a few other things.
Lyoko MUSH - 1% - Only for tech support of the radio.

As for the actuall Lyoko MUSH, I'm there about 75% of the time. I'm active there and on the other forums at about the same time most days, so it over laps with the forums most of the time..

I don't see what your problem is. Forums are practically perfect places for people to get together online and say whatever they may think on a certain topic.

Forums take time out of people. If you hang out on 20 forums at a time, well that's good for you. But some of us can't and some of us seem irritated to the fact that many people over here create forums like crazy and advertize them in hope to be a success. Sadly, very few forums succeed on this matter.
