A reason for everything? Why death?

Postby Little Vili » Wed Nov 23, 2005 11:20 am

For the past few years of my life, I’ve been noticing how things play out, and how there is always a reason for everything that happens. When my ex gf broke up with me, we then became better friends than when we were together, and Im proud to say that we still are too. But this, this is just unexplainable. Someone died in my town last night, a kid who goes to my school who’s named Jordan (cant pronounce the last name). He was hit by a car last night. It may have been due to drunk driving, all the snow, or just a general accident. But I must know, why? Why does this stuff happen? What is the reason, the purpose. They say there is a reason for everything, why death, why so young?

I know that there have been countless actions similar, or that just result in early death in general. But this incident (being that it happened in my town) really makes me think. In my opinion, it not fair. I just don’t see why, it doesn’t make sense.

"It seems unfair to me, some get the chance to chance their dreams...And some don't..But what do I know?" - A Few Questions, Clay Walker

Leaving all religious aspects out of this, here is what I would say. Life and death are part of the cycle of the world. Death is something none of us can escape. Personally, I agree with you that everything happens for a reason. No, it does not always seem right or fair. A girl in my class died of cancer in 6th grade, and just a couple months ago a 12 year old I know was found dead as well (accidental). But I also think that this was not done to punish the person who died, or to punish those around them. If anything, death is something we can learn from. If nothing else, we can take away from it that life is too short and that we should cherish every moment.

I truly agree with Ransomed_Heart. And not to forget that lives can be taken not only by accidents or natural disasters, but also by human beings and their decisions. Either way, we all learn something from death, no matter which kind.

Now that you mention friends from your classes had died, the weird thing is that I know that on most proms from all kinds of school, at least one person dies. But not in my ex-school's prom. Sadly.

dude that sucks...alot...but I mean when someone dies you just have to belive that their life had an impact especially since you are feeling the way you are. He may not have accomplished his goals but he still had an affect on a few people. It may not be much but it is something.

Death...sweet symphony

See, that's the biggest mistake people make, thinking we're supposed to understand everything there is to life and death alike.

Death is death, just like that...we don't know if there's something after it, we just know we end where it begins.

Is it fair? it isn't really something to be concerned about; what is something to be wary about is the fact it wasn't YOUR time...

In a way, that person perished so you could live another day

Don't ask questions that can't be answered...
Don't expect to know the why of death
Nor the why of life...

If there ¡s no point to death, then in consequence there's no point in Life either...

If there is a point to death....then it can only be answered by discovering the point of Life...

Our lives are too ephimeral to discover these greatest reasons...as much as we read about people discovering the final truth and what not...

Don't waste your time trying to discover the "final truth" because even if yopu do so...how could you share it?

Instead try to discover yourself, and discover others along the way; that way, when someone close to you dies, you'll know you enjoyed every last second with them...and death will no longer be a threat; but instead a phase, a natural one...one we must all go through, in order to grow as human beings....

Sure. It's common courtesy not to point out your spelling mistake with hilarious results.

...dear god...fear the Algebra goth machine of death....

I have better things to do instead of shooting out random equations...like staring mindlessly into the void of space...

Much more self reflective and less goth-emo-wannabe-angelbolts to stand

Death does serve a purpose. It's the preverbial kick in the pants to get you motivated to acccomplish whatever you wish to do ASAP. If human beings were indeed immortal then we would have a lot less insentive to get things done around here. Phrases such as "Let's do it tomorrow" or "Maybe when I'm ready" really lose their meaning when you can be knocking on Heaven's door the next day.

Live your life how you see fit. Find your ideal existance and actually DO something to get their. The world is full of dreamers who put no action behind their thoughts. With death as an ever-posing danger it is important that you make use of what little time you have on Earth.

well as i see it, i have about 90 years to obtain immortality
thats based on the assumption i'll live past 100 due to increased longetivity

thing is, immortality undermines just about every religion i've ever heard of...

I cannot fathom why immortality is so desired. What a lonely existance that would be, to watch all those around you die.
