Why cant people learn?

Postby Chad Rains » Tue Mar 21, 2006 4:29 pm

Why is it that people always have a habit of getting pissed and b*tch about every tiny little thing right at the drop of a hat? It doesn't do anyone any good. I have learned this one VERY well from plenty of past experiences where someone just looking at me cross-eyed would get me pissed.

Why am I ranting on about this you say? Lets just say that some recent happenings on Lyokomush have stirred up some angst between a few people whom I will not name here in the public eye. The only thing I will say is that it all seems to be aimed primarily in my direction.

This morning when I wake up I jump on just to say my quick Hi's for the day and in short order I am being shot at from all sides. Needless to say I didnt bother try fighting back and I just left just after saying a civilized 'adios till whenever I feel like it.'. Rather than discuss things in a civilized manner where I would have gladly discussed things and try to compromise, they just go off and bitch and moan.

I do have to give props to a few members though who have stuck by through all of this. Aelita (Kharaa) and Warton (wartonchan) quickly took me under their wing and within virtually no time at all I have risen up the ranks to now a wizard level and I have quickly learned the ropes and can easily make my way around the MUSH without a problem. As well, id like to give a great deal of thanks to a few other regular members who have stayed good and mature joes throughout all this. Atleast I know im not hated by EVERYONE.

Sorry if this is starting to sound like a pity party but im just honestly shocked how immature some people can get.

I find myself in these situations all of the time. I have no idea how they start half of the time. Usually it is something really tiny. Ignoring them would probably be the best thing to do.

Well, lets just say that what had happened was quickly solved and really boils down to a major misunderstanding. And yes Aelita, Zoa was the primary antagonist in all of this. Thankfully she did stick around and we sat down and discussed things in a 'somewhat' mature manner. As it stands now we are still pretty good friends on there and she is still as active as ever if that shows anything.

On another note weve got a few ex-members who are having a major hissy because of some rules we laid down to keep the MUSH under control.

Let me ask you this: What would you rather have? Roleplays where everyone can run wild and have people immediately pushing themselves into the Lyoko Gang with no effort? Or would you rather have a fairly organized roleplay with enough rules laid down to keep people at bay and making it more true to the show? This is essentially what the bickering is coming down to. They think we are being communists by laying down these rules and that we should let the players roam free and do as they please.

If I get mad annoyed at someone, usually I am the only one to know. I hate being seen as a cranky ranting person who hates the world and gets so mad all the time. I usually keep an optimistic attitude about it. But then I get home, and I talk to my mom about it, and she helps me get not so annoyed and how to handle the problem better when it comes up later. Basically just count to 10, take a big breath, let it out, and go on with life. On the computer though, if I'm talking to someone and they say something stupid or do something that annoys me, I'll tell them straight out that it bothers me. And then I might tell them in a way that isn't mean, but is firm, what they are doing or that I don't agree with what they said.

Firm but Fair.

That is definitely the way to go guys.

I'd rather have a read me file or something explaining the controls and whatever. the whoe MS-DOS command format is UBER confusing... Also it be nice to know what the rules of the roleplay were before creating a character. :P

well this may not work with everyone but for me since I believe that having friends just for the sake of it is pointless tend to ingnore people in general hence not having to deal with people being annoying, but sure as rains will come there are people who need friends so to deal with people like this I advise either ignoring them, or for the people that ignoring doesn't work have a WWESM, or what would eminem say moment (I classify these as what would mom do moments but since you don't know my mom WWESMs are simpler to explain) a WWESM is comprise of three parts, much like an essay, first part getting their attention, via whatever means nescesarry i.e. swearing, second the body tell them what they are doing in an extremely colorful fashion i.e. swear you head off then the conclusion, and because swearwords have become so accepted you must use words that describe your feeling very well i.e. choose words so vulgar they set the person and their pets on fire
A lot of member have sigs that say"I'm a boy", or "I'm a girl", I refuse to join this trend.

Some people are drama queens and prissy little princesses and think that whenever something happens that isn't their way, they complain about it.

Well, the one part of your statement isn't true now since I see Zoa has quit. I feel sorry for her since it seems the people she trusted ganged up on her and threw her out. I'm still mad, but incredably happy at how I still got in after getting thrown out and gave all the staff there a good piece of my mind. I have no problem obeying rules, but have a huge problem when those same rules can be broken by the staff and go unpunished. If your going to make rules for your RP they should apply to everyone. Plus there's the fact that when most of the people were being thrown out of the mush there were no rules setup at the time. At least not where people could get to them. Plus I didn't like the fact that near the end you were always spying on people. I knew you were following people around in the shadows. The @sweep command shows everything in a room that's listening and you were most often listed as listening and in the shadows. You had people so paraniod that once I told them how to look out for you they were @sweeping every room they went into.

But that's all in the past now. And besides, my argument was never with you, it's with Kharaa. I'm sorry that they're upsetting you. It's pretty mush unavoidable even if you were the nicest mod on the face of the earth. Other people are just mad that you have more power then they do on the mush. Any moderator could tell you the same thing about the people at the forums they moderate.
