They actually don't expect much from me; it's just that they've unexpectedly dropped due to forums and they want them to stay where they were (straight A's). I guess they just got used to me bringing a 94 at lowest and at least 2 A++'s.
Jeremified wrote:Okay, here's the deal. I really got into forums in March, which was the 4th quarter of 7th grade for me. I found that my grades had slipped that quarter; my parents always tell me that it's because I'm on the forums too much; I'm starting to believe them. I'm already taking action and demoting myself from a Co-Admin on another forum to a moderator, to lower its importance. However, there's another trouble: friendship. There's this one kid in my class that happens to like almost everything I like; programming, forums, Internet (but not Star Wars; I hate that). We used to be a group of three; Matthew was the 3rd. He left this year, so it's just us two (the other guy doesn't want his name stated online). I know that he hasn't had many friends in the past, and me and Matthew both came in the 6th grade. Now we know that Matthew's leaving. The point is that I get distracted easily when I'm with friends. I don't know whether to go solo and try and raise my grades back up from the abyss of B's and B-'s (my parents have high standards for me), or to stick with him and try to pull through.
The problem is, when I look at it from his perspective, he's going to see all his friends going their separate ways- he may not want to go alone. But I desparately want to get my grades up, and to do that, I need to concentrate on school alone. This means that I may not be on the forums as much; in fact, I'll probably only get on during the weekends or days when there's absolutely no homework or studying to do. I need advice on whether to split up with him and get my grades up, or to stay with him through 8th grade.

By the way, did I mention that if I get at LEAST an A- average throughout the year with no C's, D's, or F's (duh), my parents will buy me ANY COMPUTER I WANT. (Well, within reason.) This means that if I stick with grades only, I could get the best brand spankin' new computer with every single new feature on it! My heart races just thinking about it. :O
This influence any of your ideas?

please dont get offended but it makes me wonder at your reliability as a friend if you were to ditch them for a new computer when you seem to be doing very fine on the one you have. I mean, I've never heard you complain about it before so it can't be all that bad. but I dont know the whole story so please dont get angry with me about this comment.
