I'm studying Japanese myself, though unfortunately my college doesn't offer much past basic Japanese classes. Right now, I'm memorizing kanji. I have ichi, ni, san, shi, go, roku, shichi, hachi, kyuu, juu, hyaku, sen, man, and (y)en memorized, though I haven't had as much time in the past couple of weeks and thus haven't been able to progress further.
