My first Lyoko art

Postby Bootch » Thu Jan 12, 2006 2:59 pm

I was bored one night waiting for CL to come onto late night toonami and got to drawing, and I drew myself Lyokostyle! :D

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/ifeelused/bootchNF.jpg

I also tried to a sorta Digital Form which didnt quite come out as I wanted it to... theres something missing, and I think it needs to be competely redone so any suggestions you guys might have will be greatly appreciated! :D

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/ifeelused/bootchDF.jpg

I took into consideration what you all said, and changed the "digital" body. I added the Gambit style head piece, and changed the colors, added more detail and such.
I think the expression on this drawing looks strangely sad... I cant pinpoint it but he looks sad... the hands/gloves aren't quite right, but I was focusing on the body as a whole rather than getting into detail in the simple hands. Also I didnt have enough space to draw him some feet... so that will be in the next darft.

New Drawings!

These are sketches of a monster called Scorpio that TB3 came up with. They are my interpretation of his textual description and are not finished yet!
when they are I will color them in flash as I do and add the final details.

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/i ... opcopy.jpg

It was said in the description that it has two scorpion like tails at either side of the back wheel, I drew them thinking that they could be spawned when the monster needed them. here is the monster with spawned weapons:

The Original sketches

Below are the original sketches, just as they were when I scanned them in.

What do you guys think? Ideas, suggestions, thoughts, comments? (even kudos are welcome!) :D

Like your style...the drawings look a bit "rough around the edges" but it carries with it a certain sense of originality and charm.

As for the Lyoko form, I have to agree with you as it does feel like its missing something as it doesn't look "big" enough to be a full outfit. It seems like you're going for a quasi super hero look. A majority of the costume composes of a light green and it's rather plain looking. It works extremely well with the color scheme but something more can be down with it. Maybe you can detail those areas more than just leaving them flat....of course I know nothing about designing clothes so I could just be rambaling at this moment.

Another wild thought I had was maybe your character could wear a head piece similar to Gambit's from X-Men.

Looks like stuff you find at a webcomic. Pretty nice, but I also agree with G-Force.

I like the gambit headpiece suggestion, Im gonna take that into account next time I draw up a body. The body does look flat, It looks like it lacks detail, maybe even a completely different color scheme that may fit better and look better and yeah I will draw in more detail thanks!

I was trying to capture the essence of the Lyoko eye, but I guess I must have gotten the wrong brush thickness... will experiment with smaller brushes next time, thanks!

Keep the feedback coming please! I appreciate this very much :D

Thanks, thats what I was aiming for! I noticed it was mostly down to the way they draw the eyes, the skin tones, and how the drawings are sorta blocky, when theyre in the realworld they are made up of more sharper lines than flowing curves, I hope you understand what I'm getting at...Like if you look at Ulrich his chin is more triangular than round...
And thats what I modeled my drawings from.

Glad you like them... but do keep checkin back here for updates based on your feedback!

Thank you Taelia.

So, I was thinking I should post something new here, even if not very many people come round to see my stuff... but anyhoo...

here I present to you, a sketch thing of a roachster(or whatever the are called now... I remember it starts with a K...kankersomething) being chsed by Odd on his hoverboard.(you can only see Odd's legs... so I can't really say it all of him doing the chasing) but hey.. Enjoy!

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/i ... chster.jpg

also I'm gonna take the oportunity to add in the drawing I had as a signature for a few days of some of the monsters from season 1,

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/i ... gSquad.jpg

Its rough and ugly, but I liked it.

Woah. I love those monster sketches, very dynamic. And it makes a lot of sense, In the sense of balance and aerodynamic enough to be on wheels.

Yes, thank you. I guess that was my designer side shining through when I drew that monster.
