For fanfic writers/readers. Post your fics, or recommend one that you thought was good!

One of the things that helps me stay original is weird pairings. Odds are, if most people aren't into the pairing, it's easier to be original. That's one of the reasons I like XME- so many characters. It's easy to strike out into strangeness.

I'll read a cliched plot if it sounds like the author has put a new twist to it. At the end of the day, everything has been done before. I don't care as long as the author is a good writer and can make the story *sound* new.

I keep things original by totally distorting the characters' personalities. I have written some of the most Out-Of-Character stories around.

...I'll stick with my strategy, thankyouverymuch. Characterization is one of the few things I can actually do.

I wasn't suggesting that you switch techniques. But personally, I don't know how you would write like that. I couldn't do it.

Still though, if the characters are distorted in such a way that they do not act like their normal selves without any explination why they're behaving in such a way, can the fic still be considered CL related?

What if I wrote a story about the Matrix with Neo and the gang but before I uploaded it I replaced the character's names with those of the Lyoko group and call the ship they flew on Kadic. Is it still CL. I mean the names of Ulrich, Yumi and the gang are in there and we have a story and setting that is roughly similar to the show but since the character's personalities differ so greatly than their original counterparts could the reader actually "see" this going on?

Then again I have no say what's good and what's not. The purpose of this thread is to share your opinions on the subject matter so more power to you.

Personally, there are many reasons why I write Fanfictions.

1) You can do whatever you want with the characters! Put them in a new setting, make them do stuff, and, my favorite, CROSSOVERS.
2) Crossovers. You can make the characters meet characters that are from totally different series, then see how they react. Sure, I sound pretty much like I'm cruel to characters. I'm not. I enjoy watching things happen that wouldn't normally be that way. For example, Cloud and Sephiroth fall into the Zelda universe. That would be pretty cool, seeing Sephiroth and Gannon duke it out.
3) Reviewers. There's that little, fuzzy spot in your brain that gets all warm and happy when someone gives you a good, constructive review.
4) Difference of opinion. If all fanfictions were written by the same person, it gets old after a while. but with everyone writing fanfiction, you can see endless variety, even on the same topic!
5) Actual Romance. Come on, you're sick of nobody making any moves with the Code: Lyoko characters!
6) Now has even less carbs then the leading brand of... oh, wait, wrong subject.
7) Something to do instead of listening to the teacher.
8) AU's. These are pretty fun sometimes.
9) Friends you make online. If you like someone's story, tell them, and they might answer back! THis is how I met a lot of my online friends.
10) Ummmm..... Not.... Pigeons.
11) Random destruction. Come on, we all have that little pyro in us somewhere that starts to get all excited if Odd is in the same room as a can of lighter fluid.
12) Science Fiction. I love dimension hopping fanfictions.
13) SEQUELS TO AWESOME STORIES! Need I say more?
