true...now that I recall that episode yeah..he was whining about his tail being burnt.

I imagine that without his tail he would have had a few bad endings...especially with the digital void in certain spots...his tail has really...errr saved his tail a few times...

Well I also think for one *scratches legs.* DANG MOSQUITOES!!!
Odd's tail is used for stability.
Or it's a decoration.
When I first started watch CL I got annoyed of Odd's big paws. But I got use to it.

His paws are similar to his tail...they are very useful..in the first episode, he uses them to stop him from falling when he was catching Aelita. that is also where his laser arrows are stored.
On a side note..yes humans have tails..just very very very very small ones that are almost nothing but a bump of cartilage...but anyway..back to odds tail.
The length of his tail is sorta strange...its like his tail is unusually long, but some cats have longer tails than others.

I imagine the prority would be weaponry. Ulrich'sa sword and Yumi's Fan woud be easy, but Odds laser arrows? Not so much. Maybe he should upgrade to an energy longbow, like the one from the Dungeons and Dragons.

Although it probably looks like his tail is just flopping around, I am pretty sure he actually uses it..because I think like everything else, he can mentally control the tail...at least thats my theory anyway.

I think that Odd's tail is directly connected to his thoughts and feelings. If you watch in "Teddygozilla" after he catches Aelita, he breathes this huge sigh of relief. Watch his tail.
While I believe that the tail is there for decoration purposes, I don't think that's the ONLY reason he has it. Like others have said, it seems to serve as another tool to help him balance...especially in some pretty tight spots.

I also noticed that when he gets angry or mad, his tail starts moving quicker with more snap to it...or if he gets sad or something..his tail will move very little...like it channels his energy and feelings into its movements..its awesome, but weird at the same time.

I dunno if this was mentioned before, but in Cruel Dilemma, Odd distracted the monster by waving his tail on one side of a tree and jumping out from the other.
