Using Code Lyoko for French Class Presentation

Postby SuperKad » Tue Sep 16, 2008 3:06 pm

Hello.
Today in French class, I've been set a task to make a presentation. Next week, I will have to show a 2-5 minute video clip of any kind of TV show in French and talk about while identifying the link to French culture from the video.
The idea of using a Code Lyoko episode hit me straight away. The thing is though, when I try to think, I can't think of any episode that contains very obvious French culture. The reason CL is dubbed so much is because the whole story line could be based anywhere really, as not a lot of the culture of the actual country is shown.
It would be a huge help if anyone can think of an episode, even if it just has a short scene, containing an obvious form of French culture. Whether it be food or what not.

Thanks in advance!
<3.

I don't understand what that has to do with French culture? Or have I missed something here? :S

Which one was the croissant-laden episode, again?
My SN is spelled Feld, not Field. Keep getting it right, Carth.

How about Distant Memory? You can see that they drive on the right side of the road and have those...
Oh, you're from London?
My mistake. They drive on the other side of the road there. Forgot.
The episode Sattelite contains a map of France, when Jeremy is tracking the laser to where XANA set it.
Also, the episode Hot Shower shows Jeremy punching something about the Comet VG-724 in French into a search box.
Not only that, but if you go onto YouTube and type in Code Lyoko Episode 78, the one that is subbed in English is voiced in French.
I really gotta fix up this theme

On the 1st of April, people play pranks and jokes like they do here in America but in France and most of Europe it's referred to as "April Fish", instead of April Fool's.

I believe that was XANA's Kiss. Which would also be a good choice episode-wise if you're looking for examples of French culture.

Another possibility is the scene in "A Fine Mess" where Ulrich flips a Euro coin. You could talk about the Euro and it's history and impact in French culture.

Personally, I'd choose Hot Shower overall though. :)

"You're a creepy genius."

Thanks everyone!
I've decided to go with Hot Shower.
I'll let you all know how my presentation went after I've done it next week. ;].

Good idea. Just watch out, the cool kids might make fun of you for it.

There's only one other person in my French A level class apart from me, so I doubt it. :P

Really? I was in a similar situation, only since there were only two of us (me and a genius fat girl who was an expert at everything, and adored by all teachers in school) we had to share the room with the B level people. Needless to say, I didn't really get to learn a whole lot last year, because the teacher didn't have that much time for us and all we did was fill in word exercises from a more advanced learning course.

Hope you're doing better that I did...

Is a B level an American thing? xD

I'm taking my AS French this year in college, A2 next year to make my A level.

Oh, and I also forgot. The presentation went great! ^_^
The other person in my class didn't even do her presentation, so I was the only one doing it. So I guess mine was the best in the class? XDD
