The Tail Of Odd

Postby MY85 » Wed Jul 27, 2005 7:35 pm

Around Season 1, we all noticed Odd has a tail on Lyoko, but he never ever used it, if I'm not wrong. Not as a weapon, neither to play with it or losing life points by stepping his foot on it. We don't even know if when his tail gets chopped off, it will grow again or he automatically dies.

I wonder if we will get to know more about Odd's tail: something behind it, or just something extra he has to carry along with?

Its to help him move around... If I'm not mistaken.

Animals often use tails like balance poles to change their CoG for extra agility. Odd's skill is agility, the tail probably helps in that regard...

P.S.: actually that's the opposite of a balance pole; balance poles are used for extra stability (and consequently reduced agility...)

Like cats, who use there tails to ajust balance for themself. As they move there tail there is a equal and opposite reaction. By which moves the cat.

I think it's more for decoration than anything else... and it's just a virtual tail, so if his tail got 'chopped off' it would be possible to just re-load it, I'd think. (That could even be a source for some entertainment... "How Badly Will Jeremie Screw Up When He's Trying To Re-Code Odd's Tail?" XD)

I wonder if Odd (in the real world) was one of those rare babies that are born with a tail. That would be quite funny too. ;)

Doctor (examining newborn baby): That's odd...

Mother: What? What's wrong?

Doctor: He has a tail...

Mother: Are you sure that's not just his... well, you know...

Doctor: No, Ma'am, that's at the front. This runs off his spine.

Mother: Well, that is odd...

(hence his name?)

Hahaha!

Actually babies with tails aren't quite that uncommon. Developing fetuses have small appendages containing spinal fluids. They get smaller as the child grows, but occasionally they don't.

Heheh... I think it's mainly to make him look cool... kind of like an accessory to the paws.

*random monster cuts off his tail*

Odd: Not cool! That's my tail! You're going down! *tackles monster*

Ulrich: *in the background, to nobody in particular* He *does* know it'll grow back, right?

Technically, Everyone has a tail. it's so small that it's barely noticable. it's right below your spine, about where the hip is. Not so low it's in your... uh, down there, but it's still there Thank you evelution!

As the title says, no tail on odd.

whats wierd? the fact that someone took the time to record and upload a wmv file to show an clip where odd had no tail, or that someone actually made a website about the "coccyx"?

I am sure that there are websites about every part of the anatomy. Doctors use the Internet for research too...

i can imagine my [old] science teacher, who is very, very fat, and deaf, telling everyone in my class people have tails, no-one takes her seriously, her classes are more like a joke, although i did come top in my class in the end of year exam, [just wanted to fit that in somewhere]

I have noticed that he does use it for stability, in Revelation or The Key or both..I noticed he was about to fall off of a ledge, but used his tail to stabilize himself...so it is useful..and he did use it to catch himself on a branch or something one time. I wonder if he has any feeling in it at all..like if someone chopped it off..would he scream?...and would it take away life points as well..that would be interesting. but I am sure it would grow back.

when hes not on lyoko, he is normal..no tail...just in case I read that wrong..or something like that.

Lol. Now that you bring it up, I just remembered that somebody suggested virtualizing the kids' powers in S3; what would Sissi or Samantha think of Odd with a tail? :*D
thank you all for the good memories <3

that would be.....strange but interesting...honestly, I am not sure it would be a good idea because that would bring too much attention, and that is not what they want..and honestly what good would their powers be in the real world where nothing that strange happens...not counting the fact that Xana is free of Lyoko..ya know?

but back to odds tail...I dont think it would look right in the real world either...for Lyoko its fine..but it would be weird seeing him with it in the real world.

Odd's tail has always thoroughly desturbed me because I've read too many mangas where kitty-boys do dirty things with their tails. :sad1:

Though I think it would be funny if when surprised, Odd's tail fluffed out and then would follow a cheesy joke from Yumi or Ulrich and deminishing of Odd's dignity.
Bang, baby.
