How much further should CL go?

Postby 2 the infirmary! » Mon Oct 23, 2006 11:41 pm

I mentioned this in another thread, but wanted to get open opinion here.

I said 5 seasons or so.

After that, it's nearly impossible to kepp a fast-paced show like this up.

CL has done a great job, they brought a new mold to anime and television. They just need to know when to start sewing everything up.

Now don't get me wrong, I am crazy excited for S4. I just don't want to see this show slip away from the astronomical standards it was built on.

TTI!

PS: Feel free to verbally bash me, my post, my life, etc. (Keep it PG, mind you) I just want to see some other opinions.

As long as the writers keep getting ideas that they find interesting, they can continue as long as they want. I know I won't be mad if they give us a couple of seasons more. :)

After today's episode, 4 or 5 could be enough. Please, just no more KH references.

Oh c'mon, get over the 'they ripped off KH' thing. It really wasn't that direct I felt, it could have come from a lot of difference sources. Ah well whatever, you can be bitter if'n you want.

ANYWAY, I thought that we'd never see beyond season 1, then season 2, now season 4. I personally thing 4 would be a good time to cut things off what with the number of episodes avalible. Things look bad once again to hold us at a cliffhanger at S3, but some final resolution SOME DAY would be nice. We'll see what happens one of these days surely.

You've at least made that point in a couple of threads. By now I think the whole Forum knows and It's getting annoying.

I wouldn't mind if a couple of seasons went by but I don't know if I'd exactly watch it. Personally S4 I all I need, but if they make an S5 for something else unrelated to Lyoko and all the jabber. I'd watch it. I'd like to see the gang on vacation or something. (Or possibly see Jeremy actually get a GOOD night sleep.) Odd date Sissy. Ulrich and Yumi get together. (I wonder if that'll ever happen.) And...I don't know. Jeremy and Aelita get together. Kiwi....running away? Hah that'd be a good episode and see what happens to Odd....

Ok..I'll stop rambling.

Maybe they'll slow down a tad, allow themselves chance to have a status quo for a while.

Due to one thing, the gang will have to break up sooner or later. And that’s when they leave the school.

Yumi would be the first to leave as she’s a year ahead of the others. But seeing that she lives nearby, she could remain as a part time member.

Odd on the other hand, will have to leave the group when he graduates as he has to fly home, even though he lives in France, so it’s most likely that he lives way south. No way will he be able to get to the factory every time XANA attacks.

Aelita will be tricky, as she currently has no legal guardian. And in the current situation, they can’t put her on Lyoko during the holidays. And they can’t get away with boarding her at Yumi’s forever.

We know that Jeremie is French, and his Dad drove to Kadic during ‘Franz Hopper’ in less than a day, so he could live in a 100-200 mile radius.

But Ulrich is a complete mystery. As the name suggests, he could be German, so commuting to the factory will be a definite problem

If the show does come to this point, continuing the series with the original characters will be difficult. They might do a Power Rangers on us and produce new members when someone from the current group graduates. But I bet Moonscoop can find a way to keep them together.

They could always do what Digimon 02 did and give the gang the ability to open Digital Gates from any Net-connected computer, in this case onto the Internet.

Four seasons is enough for me. Because already they've got 97 episodes, and that's a lot. :O~

If they do go for a fifth season though, it'd better be... Good. Or decent. xD

Four, unless the last ep. is a cliffy (then I march to Moonscoop and open fire....JOKING!!!! :nyeh!: ). Also...if Jeremie and Aelita, and Ulrich and Yumi don't get together in season 4, I will paticion for a season 5, even if it's just to calm my romantic brain. (and to calm the brains of my fellow obessive 'shipers)
I love Code Lyoko...but some the excitement has worn off. Only some, though. I still jump and giggle at the end of a good episode. (and during the intro...) But...if it goes on forever...the length itself might kill it for me...I mean, I'm in college, and I do NOT wanna be skipping classes all four years to catch new ep.s of C.L., no matter what happens. (Youtube is becoming my friend....)

Personally, I want more than four (and the possible five) seasons. But after a while, all good shows pass their peak. Look at The Simpsons’s. These days, you get a good ep now and then, but it’s lost some of it sparkle. And that I don’t want to happen.

The Simpsons are long old. They've been loosing their sparkle. Infact they never had one in my opinion.

But this is CodeLyoko not that freaky show..

I don't care how long it becomes, as long as it doesn't last an eternity. But I would like it to be long enough to wrap things up-Ulrich and Yumi dating, Jeremie And Aelita dating, XANA being destroyed, F. Hopper coming to the real world, happy ending, ect. I'd like it how ever long or short it is, I plan on buying the complete season of Cowboy Bebop and it's only 26 episodes plus a movie. I think Fooly Cooly is only like between 6 and 9 episodes, yeah that's the whole thing.

One thing: I was sorta pissed off about some real life incident before watching Final Round. And that fueled my anger more. Now I'm chilled down... but even with or without those references displayed, have Code Lyoko die at 4 or 5 Seasons is just fine for me. More seasons doesn't always mean it's for the best.

Am I the only one who finds it unlikely we'll get both of these?

And I hope CL continues for as long as they have idea's for it.

Perfect example. I would say four seasons myself, but if they slow it down like Cassius said and MoonScoop should, there are too many loose ends to sew up in 30 eps. I would say you need closer to 40-45.

But back to the point. The "all shows pass their peak" saying is true if you make a "Simpson" mistake. If Lyoko cuts it at 4, 5 seasons max, the series finale will be its peak. Obviously, that is where you want it to be.

If it goes for more than five seasons, then yesterday's ep "Final Round" could have very well been its peak. We just have to wait and see if Moonscoop will prolong this to death.

If this the case, I will be upset. NO NEW BIG MYSTERIES (Except maybe for William, or Franz)! I WANT ANSWERS! I WANT AN END THAT I CAN APPRECIATE, NOT SOME BOGUS 8 SEASON ENDING!

maybe a 40-ep 4th and final season would suffice. Just don't beat a dead horse.

Then its most likely that the seasons are very short. Some British shows like Dad's Army had like 9 seasons, but only had 9 eps max per season.

I think season 5 would be a good place to wrap things up. Once thats done, Moonscoop can do a 80 minute straight-to-DVD-movie. :D

Like others have previously said here: Long enough to tie up loose ends. While I'd love for CL to go 5 or 6 seasons, if they can finish it all up and do it well by the end of season 4, so be it. As it stands now with season 4, CL has 95 episodes. 97 if you count the prequel. I have seen many other cartoons/anime's go with shorter sets of episodes/seasons. CL has it good right now.

Although I do have to bring up another point here. Moonscoop, like any other company in the business, follows ratings and profits. CL just started its merchandise campaign and it has shown that CL has become a very popular show and is getting great ratings. Moonscoop may very well push CL into more seasons just so it doesn't end off at its peak profit/ratings-wise. Whether or not they make the extra seasons/episodes good and worth watching is another ballgame altogether.

But this is just me. Resident analyst by nature. Just pointing out what I see.
