Marvel should stop making the toys.

Postby ginolyoko12 » Sun Oct 28, 2007 2:54 pm

Anyone else agree that Marvel should stop making the toys?

Here's some toys and reasons of mine why they should stop.

My Freewheeling Odd and Overboard = Odd head fell off and his tail broke (Odd is nothing without his tail)
My Pullback Overbike with Ulrich = Overbike doesn't even pullback and go! Ulrich's head popped out,
The Overboard R/C = Odd isn't bendible.
For all the toys overall = They don't even look like the characters.

The best brand of toys that SHOULD be making Code Lyoko toys is Bandai or you may know them as the people who make those Power Rangers action figure (Yes, I was a little boy. I loved power rangers more than ever. You have got to love them at sometime in your life)
But yeah, I have some back from like 1995 (I was like 4? I'm 15 now) and heck, I still have them in mint condish. Even my little Digivice from Digimon Season 2. I still have it in mint condition.

Anyways, back on topic. Anyone else agree that Marvel shouldn't be making CL toys?

Well, I think that if Bandai made 'em, they might get to be sold at Target and Wal-Mart (at least in my area. In Troy, The only place that sells them is a Toys-R-us).

So yeah, Bandai could make them.

I got some of the toys. Bandai should make them, though.

Uh, toys are TOYS. they're MEANT to be played with. Being fragile isn't the only consideration. Another thing is the missles on the toys. they're so PATHETIC!! They're literally tightened tinfoil, plastic, and a weak spring.

You know how kids are these days, don't chya? They whack around everything and beat them up. It's only natural they'd break, even if they are super indestructible!

With that sarcastic comment out of the way, I don't think it really matters. All my toys broke at some point, and even the ones made by Bandai. Maybe it's my past experience with them, but they will break soon.

Matt Geczy bought an Odd figurine as a gift for a relative and the leg fell off XD - image that scenario - oh yes I can imagine it

As for manufacturing - I honestly have never seen anything that Marvel has manufactured but I hear very little that's good - all my childhood toys in this line were pretty much Bandai (excellent experience with Power Rangers and Gundam figurines etc) and Hasbro (Transformers) - either one of those would be a quality manufacturer, but as it is - well, meh.

I thought most people above the age of 13 that would buy toys would buy them for the sake of collection and/or possibly selling them on Ebay in the future.

I had almost every Bandai toy for Power Rangers. ;) But that's beside the point.

I think they're using marvel because they most likely have a tien in with them through the Fantastic Four animated series, which was done by Moonscoop and Taffy Entertainment. They also did the graphics in the two movies, so they most likely get a cheaper dieal, what with having to work less on the contract and all.

It's not that big of a show, so they most likely can't get alot of money to make this stuff. But that really doesn't exclude them from crappy quality... Marvel, I mean.

Yeah most (MOST) marvel toys turned out pretty good. (I hope the Zombie Spider-Man figure doesn't suck) But the Code Lyoko ones did look cheaply made. Good thing I didn't buy them.

Or can we switch to another toy maker and let them make both Earth and Lyoko forms of the gang with changeable clothing. I'd like to...okay. That's a little too weird for this forum, especially for Aelita Schaeffer-Hopper. (I call her Aelita Hopper. Deal with it.)

About Matt Gecze having the Odd figurine that looks like Lt. Dan from Forrest Gump, I'd have to say...I'd laugh out loud.

I too call Aelita "Aelita Hopper". And I call Franz "Franz Hopper". If Moonscoop hates that, TOUGH!

Bandai really should make the toys, I never bought them for the fear of them breaking, and that would be a waste of money.

Oh, jeez. I really care for Aelita, but not even I have thoughts like that!

(I mean... she's just 12... it's kind of wrong!)

Besides, I really doubt that, if they had changeable clothing, their bodies would be detailed...

Not entirely. My Sailor Moon action figures have clothing you can remove but with no details on the breasts or private parts at all. ;)

Japanese for the appeal, US for the show.

What do you mean? I like Serena's voice more in English, and I got to know the show (relatively recently, actually, since my anime club made me curious about it) in the US dubbed version too, but whenever I watch anime I always prefer the original Japanese version. I like to hear the original voice actors' interpretations of the characters (even in a live-action foreign movie, I'll read the subtitles) and sometimes, old Uncle Sam will take all the juicy stuff out of an anime... or even non-juicy stuff that's considered inappropriate for the kiddies, violating the artists' intentions. One more thing I like about the US dubbed SM, though, is Serena's name. Serena! As in, the Sea of Serenity, the moon! That's much better than Usagi! "Bunny" kind of sounds like a hooker's name...

Although I voted Bandai, I'd also like to put forth Takara of Transformers and Microman fame for consideration. The Microman figures in particular offer a wide articulation range for their small size (about 4 inches) - perfect for a Code Lyoko range.

Also, it's one step closer to my ultimate goal of a CL skit on Robot Chicken.
My SN is spelled Feld, not Field. Keep getting it right, Carth.
