Now that Ulrich in your avatar, Rycr does look pretty evil to me because he looks like an evil Ulrich from Sector 5 (because of the fact that Sector 5 is blue and that Ulrich has blue on him).

I read the rest of the interview. Apparently it's the American distributer's fault that there isn't more romance and that Ulrich and Yumi haven't gotten together yet. They just want action and stuff like that, and because the show has so much popularity here, the folks at MoonScoop have to at least listen to their input. It's in the section about the romance (obviously) if anybody wants to read it for themselves.

They just want action and stuff like that, and because the show has so much popularity here, the folks at MoonScoop have to at least listen to their input. It's in the section about the romance (obviously) if anybody wants to read it for themselves.
I haven't read the interview yet ( because I can't understand a lick of french), but this still bothers me that we can't see more sides of the story than just the action. There is more to life than blowing things up, and nifty toys and gadgets.... but I digress I guess when you have a customer asking for this, and none to that, then you have to listen to the customer, or your story just dies.... a bit of a sellout but Moonscoop is a buisness

Yeah, well, their American distributor probably makes up a very large part of their distributions. Still, it wouldn't hurt to have just a couple episodes that have romance...
Well, who knows? They might slip some romance in anyway. We won't know for certain until we see it, after all. Let's just hope, huh?

I'm not perfect in French but I know enough to get by the interview. If someone who knows French EXACTLY could translate it for us?
I don't know...
Anyway, one thing that caught my eye was about someone asking about the clothing changinng. I assumed she said No because it would cause the animators great pain but I'm not so sure. Sophie also said "thus they will grow." (-Translation,I the same thing translating it myself mentally.) I'm not sure if she meant yes or no. Translators aren't perfect and my French isn't either....

But seriously, she said that there weren't gonna be any more lyoko warriors. I kinda expected that (Come on! The last one became XANA's new host body!), but I hoped it wasn't the case.
I truly hope for more romance in the future, as well, but if there isn't...
The combat/Lyoko scenes better be (BKO) awesome to make up for it.
Anyway, I thought that it was a pretty good interview, but google needs to work on their translator a little more.

Eh heh...well...I can give you a sum-up of things of interest to be found in the interview (translating the whole thing would take me at least 2 weeks ^^). I'll post that below, but first things first...
Indeed, she said that they won't be changing their wardrobe much more than they have been (as this does make it easier for the animators), but apparently they will have grown some for this season...which may or may not mean that Ulrich, Jeremie and Odd, will be taller than Yumi and Aelita. ^^;
Well...I believe that they are aiming to make this the last season (although she admits a 5th season is ultimately up to the producers), but it won't be a cliffhanger ending and she believes it will be very satisfying for the fans. I'll go into detail about the full translation of her thoughts on that a little later on in the synosis of the interview below.
Things of Interest from the "CL in General" section:
Lyoko is apparently the Japanese word for "Voyage".
Code Lyoko was partially inspired by the Matrix films, as the show's creators Tania Palumbo and Thomas Romain are big fans of it.
Things of Interest from "The Episodes" section:
The writers are not really in touch with the English VAs and other foreign production teams...which is a shame since I think that'd clear up that whole "the American fans hate the romance" thing really quick.
Things of Interest from "The Characters" section:
Tania and Thomas named most of the characters, however Sophie and Jerome Mouscadet named a few as well.
XANA is a virus/program (and not the super computer itself) which "turned on" (aka betrayed) the supercomputer and used it for evil (and then later escaped from it). (A/N: Kind of like a parasite then, I guess ^^ )
Tania Palumbo created the models for the season 4 outfits (both 2D and 3D) as well as the Scyphozoa.
Aelita's "outfit change" between season 1 and 2 was done in order to boost interest in second season. (A/N: The change of her eye color in 2D from green to the normal black was likely done to save animation time. ^^)
The characters will have "grown" somewhat in season 4 (their voices will most likely remain the same though). This will not prove a problem storyline-wise as Kadic acts as a highschool (in our terms) as well as a junior high. The reason they did not grow much before in other seasons was because they wanted the characters to remain in touch with the target audience.
The characters do not change their outfits in the real world very much due to the need to create character designs for each new outfit (which takes more time and money). It's more economical to have them just stick with a few outfits each (and background characters with only one).
Jeremie will not be getting a Lyoko form (or at least it won't be seen). He's their technical advisor (she uses the term "geek"), not a fighter. It was mentioned that his Lyoko form was ridiculous looking, which is apparently all we'll be getting. (A/N: This is just about the only thing I disagreed with, and found mildly offensive as well, in this interview. Apparently, this writer cannot imagine Jeremie on Lyoko and deems him a "thinker, not a fighter". There is a faint hope that this may be subject to change, but at the moment it looks doubtful...ah well. *cries* )

The romance in Code Lyoko was cut back due to American intervention (since apparently, the American fans want action and not romance). (A/N: I have something to say about this...but I'll put it in another place)
For romances like Y/U, how far they will actually get is up in the air. Due to "American-imposed" constraints, a kiss doesn't seem likely, however this writer is fighting for it, and at the very least for a "good ending" for them. (A/N: Again, I have something to say about this...)
Things of Interest from the "Season 4" section:
Season 4 will be 30 episodes long.
Writing for season 4 should end in January. The planned air date is still the Spring of 2007...however this is subject to change.
XANA's plans and options of attack have increased. (*snickers*)
At the moment, the characters will likely keep their previous Lyoko powers and abilities...however, there may also be some new innovations.
The return of Franz Hopper is something to be considered for season 4.
The full story of Franz Hopper, Aelita and Lyoko will not be revealed in season 4. Apparently, it is far too involved and long to make for good television. However, some of it will be further explained in season 4. (A/n: Likely enough for us to get the big picture...but not in any great detail. ^^ )
The series is planned to end at the 4th season. And it will have a true ending (and apparently not a cheap one, but a good one ^^ ). A 5th season will be up to the producers to decide on.
The ending is planned to be a happy one (although there may be some room for drama along the way ^^).

Will we see more of the heroes' families, as other than Yumi's, we haven't seen much of them.

Will Odd's family make an appearance (as other than his mom's voice over a phone, we've seen and heard nothing of them)?
I don't know. Not all of the details for season 4 have been hammered out.

"XANA Awakens" is and was indeed the OAV explaining Lyoko's discovery.
Whether or not there will be a CD of the soundtracks from Code Lyoko is unknown at the moment.

"Travel" would probably be a better word for it. ^^; The way the French say Lyoko, and the word "ryokou" (旅行) are pretty much pronounced the exact same way, except Lyoko has much more of an L sound in the beginning.
Anyway... no romance?! I know I usually hate romance, but why not?? I think a good story needs to be balanced in humor, action, and romance, but if all we're left is humor and action, then it takes away some of it... and plus, start of S3 they're like, 14~16 now, and those horomones can't be ignored, yanno...

I totally agree. I'm actually kind of peeved by the idea that they think that the American fans don't want any romance at all and that we're the reason why they took a lot of it out (and why we may not get an kisses D: )
Anyone up for sending them a letter or something saying we do want it? There may still be time since the writing process hasn't finished yet. What do you guys think?

I'm up for signing anything, but as well I'm up for the idea of listing all the mistakes Code Lyoko has done throughout the 3 seasons and not just asking for romance to be added.
And asking them this: what's the age population average of most CL fans? Because if the total age average of CL fans reaches 13, to hell with the Rated 7 year old shows and raise up the ratings a little bit.

Also, if my japanese skills are correct, "L" and "R" are pronounced almost exactly the same. That's why you get similar names in japanese and english versions in anime sometimes (in Japanese, the One Piece character Zollo is pronounced Zorro.)
Also, I believe in japanese, Ryoko means "Dragon." and since "L" and "R" are pronounced the same...

This is a huge disappointment! Franz Hopper (once he's materialized into the real world) should take Jeremy's place of guiding the team and being the operator of the supercomputer as well! I mean, he is MUCH more skilled at the supercomputer than Jeremy. And besides, Jeremy should be the one in Lyoko as a fighting member of the gang--Franz Hopper shouldn't be the one in Lyoko because he is an old man and would best be suited as a thinker rather than a fighter. And because Jeremy is a young man, he should be the fighter and not the thinker. And besides, once Franz Hopper is materialized into the real world, he wouldn't just show thanks and carry on with his own life--he would be fighting Xana as well, but would only be fighting Xana in Jeremy's place of operating the supercomputer and such while Jeremy will be fighting in Lyoko as a completely awesome cold-blooded cybernetic being who is EXTREMELY skilled in combat! Furthermore, if Franz Hopper were to take Jeremy's place, that would mean advanced upgrades for the Lyoko gang and advanced tactics against Xana being performed by Franz Hopper on the supercomputer!

And besides, once Franz Hopper is materialized into the real world, he wouldn't just show thanks and carry on with his own life--he would be fighting Xana as well, but would only be fighting Xana in Jeremy's place of operating the supercomputer and such while Jeremy will be fighting in Lyoko as a completely awesome cold-blooded cybernetic being who is EXTREMELY skilled in combat! Furthermore, if Franz Hopper were to take Jeremy's place, that would mean advanced upgrades for the Lyoko gang and advanced tactics against Xana being performed by Franz Hopper on the supercomputer!
Sorry, but I'm gonna have to disagree. Sure, Jeremie's young, but he's... well, he's a dork. He's pretty bad at fighting, even in the real world (the second and third seasons showed us that).
Also, it's possible he's pacifistic. I, for one, am like that, and I would much rather have someone else do the fighting for me and let me be a thinker.
