It would be cool to see a black krabe. I guess the black manta is William-Xana's personal monster.

Not if they get it right. Imagine, for instance, a Unicycle-esque monster formed from a Krabbe and a Megatank.

I dub thee asked.

If the id have them transformed, it'd be a bit more like Digimon, and impeccably hard to folow.

'Sides, they'd gang'd only defeat them eventually.

I was thinking about that as well. Gattai is fine for mechanical creations, but the organic ones, like Skippy and the Tarantula's (good band, that), fusion-style might be better.

Now may I add something? In the Season 4 preview I noticed that it goes fast and that when I go frame by frame on it, it doesn't go smoothly and that it sort of skips. Therefore, could this be because of the fact that Moonscoop is low on money (as creating all the frames that make up an episode costs money) and that in order for them to have created Season 4, they had to resort to the technique of not creating as many frames which would obviously result in the entire Season 4 and all its episodes going somewhat fast? Also, this technique of skipping frames would also enable them to create room for new scenes (rather than repeated scenes) because it's obvious that it's better to have episodes that go somewhat fast without repeated scenes rather than them being at normal speed and having repeated scenes. Especially since Season 4 is the last season and is expected to be the best one with as fewest repeated scenes as possible.

Erm...I'm willing to bet that the reason it's "skipping frames" is either due to the frame loss when it's transferred to digital video (digital video tends to run at a different frame rate than actual TV content does) or because the action is simply supposed to be fast (I'm not sure which scene in particular you were looking at so if you could elaborate that would be helpful).

You'd be amazed at what certain movements look like slowed down, and animation is always a fantastic candidate to observe this in because it's a "frame by frame" art to begin with. In order for objects to appear to be moving quickly they're animated with quite a decent bit of "space" between them, in terms of frames.

At any rate, if you play something "frame by frame" it's always going to look jumpy and skippy. Just play Disney films on "frame by frame" and you'll see what I mean (and, at least with older films like Beauty and the Beast, you know they weren't low on budget). This is because of the way our eyes perceive motion, and because you've slowed something down to a speed at which it wasn't meant to be played, the "illusion of movement" is lost, and our eyes perceive it as the individual frames it truly is.

*looks at her post and sweatdrops* ...I'm going to stop now...before I get into a huge animation lecture that I'm sure none of you really want to hear. ^^;

At any rate, I don't think it's anything to worry about. The action's moving fast because it's meant too, I'm sure.

They guys above have already explained the video side of things but I do want to say that the idea of Moonscoop being low on money is farcical Astro-Xana.

The company is rolling in dosh thanks to the international success of Code: Lyoko - last month it bought out two more studios and started it's own cable channel.

As a measure of it's financial stability, an investment company owned by the French government has started buying stock in Moonscoop.

Sorry about bringing that up. I mean, I did think that I had an interesting theory there and did use my common sense in coming up with it (with just basic information). But obviously, there is all that other technical information that I was unaware of. So, in terms of just being basic information, I'm sure this was indeed an interesting point. But, of course, when it comes to how things work (which I'm not fully aware of in the slightest), this is complete nonsense.

I am agreeing with Mewberries here. What you've said was plain nonsense. It doesn't skip at all, and that the video on which I and cl.fr/cl.fr obtained it from wasn't the best source of video. You have to understand that, originally, the videos were in .flv format, which is flash video format, and a format that plain sucks. Now, how I obtained the English video was from codelyoko.com's server that posted the "secret files" on the site, as shown here:

Image

It was the originally an flv like I've said, and to make matters worse, the English flv was inverted, like you were watching it in a mirror. So, the filters and modifications we've used in order to make it non-mirrored somewhat changed the quality of the video.

Also, complete nonsense. A preview, especially this first one, it has to be fast paced, show a lot, not too much, in as few time as possible. Seeing Moonscoop's success, they wouldn't do such thing. If they has no money, there would be no show at all. Go big or go home, literally. Please think about how things work before spreading complete nonsense.

Yeah, I've seen that list too. Another thing, if they added less frames, they would've lowered the FPS (frames per second) so that it would be the same speed, just less frames (no matter how low the budget is they wouldn't leave it at a high speed like that!). That's what a lot of anime shows do, the frame rates sometimes goes down to like 4 frames per second. (FPS is 29.97 on TV and 24.00 in movies.) So yeah, the video was just slow so it looked fast. FLV's a very low quality.

EDIT:|:|:

Sorry, I see you two guys posted before I did and cleared stuff up, nevermind!

Awwww, I was looking forward to an animation lecture! ;__;

I'm not clear on this as of yet, is it confirmed that season 4 is coming out March 4th? And that in France it's coming out in September?
