BTW I put it under cartoons, I thought it maybe should go under programming though.

I have registered in and posted something.

You should have better placed it in "WTF?" category.

I'm watching you guys :D

But I hope it goes well! Do you guys need me to do anything? I'm not good at HTML or anything... just artwork... like sectors and such... but I doubt you'll need that *scratches back of head*

Have any ideas for logo?

Really, even I don't know what should I do. If we get more people involved, we will be able to talk about anything at all.

YAY! I made a banner for the forum. You guys should know how to put a banner in the logo space, right? And remember to us <center> and </center> tags!

http://img74.imageshack.us/img74/6893/p ... adu7zz.png

For the site thingy I'll need the URL so I can take out the old URL of the forum and put in the new one and save it as a seperate picture.

Putting this as banner, or doing anything with forum is leaved to Lyoko is Cool, because he's admin =).

And that's Invision board, and I'm quite infamiliar with it(used phpBB whole life).

Hey! I think we could get some hosting on sourceforge.net. 100 MB space, PHP, MySQL.. I'm hosting one project on it right now, so they may not allow me to be another's admin... let Lyoko is Cool do it(if he wants of course).

WARNING: Publishing files on sourceforge.net is done via SCP/SFTP, which is a bit complicated thing. You need to submit a key, and use it for logging in to server.

PHP and MySQL is something forum needs to run on.. PHP is a script... I will not say you what PHP is.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PHP. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MySQL. SFTP stands for Secure FTP. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSH_file_transfer_protocol

i've been watching this topic as a guest for a long time now and i've noticed that many people are thinking about using a normal pc to run the virtual world (still debating whether to call it Lyoko or Xanadu) or hosting it on a web server.

So i'm thirteen but i'm very similar to Jeremy out of CL in the field of computers, but your going about this all wrong. In the show they use a QUANTUM COMPUTER which is different to a normal computer in many ways including the following:
1 --> A quantum computer needs a large amount of energy to run it (ie nuclear fuel cells)
2 --> A normal pc uses bits, bytes etc etc where as a quantum computer uses qubits, qubytes etc etc.
3 --> A quantum computer can be used to easily simulate real world physics ie gravity and trajectory, a normal pc would take ages to calculate it plus it would still wouldn't be as accurate.
4 --> The virtual world uses its own OS not another one like windows or linux/unix or Mac

So i've dropped a bomb on all of us and probably lowered everybodys spirits to the bear minimum but it's a hugh commitment, if any of you have seen "The Key" you'll know that Franz hopper had to use the RTTP feature over 2546 times, which equates to just under 7 years if each time reversal was used at the end of a 24 hour cycle (ie June 6 1994 --> June 7 1994 --> RTTP to June 6 1994 --> Loop).

Plus to make the codes to allow visitations you'll have to know alot it Physics and Quantum mechanics.

I hope i've given everyone something to think about and i hope that i happened dappened to many peoples hopes because i still think that it can be done.

Quantum computing can be simulated..
itwhiz.jnr wrote:A normal pc uses bits, bytes etc etc where as a quantum computer uses qubits, qubytes etc etc.

I know about all this.. I know quantum computing a bit, this allows randomization. Same algorithm with same data can produce different results.
itwhiz.jnr wrote:The virtual world uses its own OS not another one like windows or linux/unix or Mac

I think I've said something about it, haven't I?

Do we need to use this <!> Newtonian or Einsteinian physics?

Okay, let me set this straight. We ARE NOT making a real virtual world per se (if a virtual world can be called "real"). We ARE basically making a 3d model of all of Lyoko (which brings up an interesting point: How do we do sector 5? It changes too much). We aren't going to need a quantum computer or even a normal supercomputer. We're not messing around with physics within the world, trying to build a mechanism to return to the past, or doing anything like that, since we just don't have the resources. We are making something equivalent to a map that can be used in a videogame or something. At least, that's what I understand about it.

EDIT:I'd like to quote Jeremie Hopper in the first post of the topic. Note the bold/underlined text.

Okay, Like make the actual lyoko virtual world.

Did anyone think virtual world=3d map?

We had already thought of using Milkshape 3D for the models.....I'll edit this in a few minutes...

Well, if you do get around to start making stuff, you can somehow find the actual Lyoko landscape off of google, or you could make up a landscape. I made a desert plateau, just for kicks awhile ago...

http://www.xanga.com/home.aspx?user=to_the_infirmary

just in case anybody wanted to go off of that.

I'm new at programming, but I have a little experience from Tribes II, but I really need more training. I could do jobs 3 through 7, but then again my parents don't like me getting on the internet that often, and they are the ones who get me on at all, so I'd only be on about once a week. Just tell me what to do. Contact me @ Awgoodwin@netzero.net. Thank you for doing all you can. I'd start doing the same thing if I had your skills.

Daegon,

Edit What the hey? I post these things on the XANADU project and they end up here!
Some have to be courageous to fight, some have to be couragaeous not to fight, and some have to fight in order to regain their courage. -Dego Flamron

We need your help. Go to http://s3.phpbbforfree.com/forums/index ... jectxanadu and help us create Lyoko.

Please don't triple post, Daegon. It's very spam-ish. Just use the "Edit" feature on the right side of your first post and add in whatever else you have to say, if you don't mind. I deleted the duplicate post and merged your third one for you, but please don't post in quick succession like that. Thanks. :)
