CL game second thoughts

Postby Chad Rains » Wed Dec 21, 2005 8:01 pm

Sorry if there is an already established thread for the game, but I couldnt find one.

Anyways, after doing some digging, I have come across a fairly good list of games that "The Game Factory" (the company making the CL game) has previously made and I am starting to ave second thoughts

TGF game list

Heres just a few examples on the list:

Franklin the Turtle
Dora the Explorer
Strwberry Shortcake

just to name a few...

Im sure you can understand if im just a tad bit concerned as to where the game is headed. I know CL is rated for young audiences, but the difference between CL and these other shows that TGF has developed games for is that CL actually appeals to older audiences as well as its target audience. Im just hoping that TGF takes this into account and makes a good game out of this.

Those other shows are also ones I would think would be rated lower than TV-Y7. The Legend of the Dragon one doesn't look too bad though, so I think there's a chance it can still be good.

They'd better not turn this into some two-bit thing you could beat in an hour.

I'm not quite sure we can hold this list against them. If they're the Programmers that does the "licensed" games for cartoons and stuff, that's just they're luck of the draw. Programmers can't always choose the games they make, especially if they're owned by a huge Licensing company like Funimation, or something. Besides...we're judging them based on the names (and shows) these games include...has anyone actually played them? That'd be the deciding proof.

In all honesty, I don't even really mind if the game is easy to beat. I'm an absolutely terrible gamer, and I don't think I'd be able to take constantly killing whoever I'm playing as (which will probably be Ulrich or Yumi most of the time) due to my shabby game skills. ^^; I'm excited for this nonetheless. ^_^

Oh and the old CL DS video game thread can be found here.

Thank you, Mr. Scrooge. Thank you so much. :whatever: Maybe you want to pessimistic about this, but I for one think it will be an awesome game. Anyways, complaining will get you nowhere.

(Sidenote: "want to pessimistic" doesn't make much sense... "are too" or "went too")

If it could be targeted for a adult audience (PG-13, at least), it would be better. Most gamers are teenagers, if I'm not wrong. And maybe, most CL fans are really teenagers.

I never really expected much. Usually games people make for shows are crap anyway... usually.

The games a company has produced in the past has no effect on what games it may make in the future. For example, Rare is a big company and has made lots of neat games, but their games are *nothing* alike. They did the Donkey Kong Country series (games for all ages) as well as some of the Bond games (not really for small children). Capcom has brought you such games as Street Fighter, but also made a little game called Toki-Tori.

Besides, Dora the Explorer is a show aimed at very small children, namely girls, while the target audience of CL is both boys and girls of ages 7-12. (Though obviously it's captured older people too.) There's no way they'd make an EC-rated game for a show with those kind of stats. It'll be rated E (or maybe E10) with plenty of stuff that both genders will appreciate. ;) Don't worry!

hmmn, even if this game is rubbish (not meaning to be pessimistic, there will always be the chance of some good fan-made PC games. After seeing lunar: Dragon song on the DS, I think a Code Lyoko RPG would work really good. But hack-and-slash is always good too ^_~

I did a little research on IGN.com and found the publisher's page on the game. See It Here

Acording to that page. This is the developer, yet the game hasn't apeared on any of their pages. All there is on their development page is 'Unannounced DS/GBA game;'

The developer's newest offering is 'State of Emergency 2', which acording to the Offical PS2 mag in the UK, it isn't good. Metacritic and IGN backs up this claim.

But check out their sites and product to decide for yourself.

To be honest, I'd feel better if anyone else, even EA Games, were making this.

The 'New Equipment & Data bit system' sounds promising, though. Hopefully, hopefully, they know how to wet a fan's appetite.

Id be excited to play this game...just to see how well things matched up...im not that great at fighting or whatever..but the storyline is what usually captures me. So for me, if they follow the story line fairly well, then its a good game.
