Haha yea. I think they are trying to make it more for little kids now. Or just to increase the humor.

you know, I have noticed that and I can't say I really like it. I mean, I understand it's used at times when we're supposed to find something humorous, but at the same time, I feel like the show can be very serious and it confuses my brain, because am I watching these kids save the world over and over again, or am I watching Tom and Jerry? ;)

Maybe they thought it was needed - after all Season Two is overall 'darker' than Season One, what with some very involved episodes (i.e. Aelita's 'deaths' in 'Common Interest', Yumi's injuries in 'Cold War') and a climax that might unnerve some kids - perhaps they thought they needed to balance it out with a bit more prat-fall humour.

The only time I can remember one of these sound-effects is in 'Tip-Top-Shape', in the infirmary;

JOLEEN: You're very scrawny though Odd, are you sure you're eating enough?
JEREMIE: By enough do you mean more than an elephant?
(cue the sound of an elephant)

I got a bit of a laugh there as did TL - but I agree that over-use of these effects would spoil the show a bit - they've just got to find a happy medium.

I like them sometimes, but after a while the noises get boring.

I liked the both sounds after Yolande called Odd scrawny.

YOLANDE: You have such a high metabolism. It's no wonder you're so scrawny.
(cue to a "boink!" sound)
ODD: I'm not scrawny. (walking away) I'm svelte.

I'm still not sure what "svelte" means, but I think it's Norwegian for "lean".

---

I also think the show's becoming more aimed at teens and adults than kids, but that's just me.

Some of those effects were in Season 1 as well, IIRC, but those were a bit more subtle.

I disliked those sounds right away. I thought they sounded a little weird in a show like Code Lyoko.

I really don't mind them. Once in a while I might get a chuckle from one of them.

Yeah, I've actually noticed one of them. In the episode where Odd and Yumi switch bodies, when Yumi in Odd's body sniffs Odd's shoe, there's a trombone sound played, yet the show's for humor and like Maus, without the senseless killing.

Meh, Even though I found it funny when Odd was boxing the creeper on "Franz Hopper", I don't think they needed to add the Bell ring and the crowd cheering lol.

I kinda like the sound effects, makes me laugh when timed right. Really, when I first saw Odd was about to box the Creeper I chuckled, but after the bell and crowd, I just fell over laughing. Just need to keep it during the appropriate times, and I don't mind so much.

I like the sounds. They fit very well with the atmosphere of the show. Without that levity, the story is neither serious nor dark enough to stand on it's own. Code Lyoko has been able to get that fine balance of cartoony humor and more serious storyline. That balance is good.
