Why would people think of Odd as a homo?

I've been thinking about this for a while.

From most of the CL forums I've seen, only some of the people who have seen CL in the english version think that Odd is gay. Some of the other fans of CL who watch it in a different language could also think of Odd as gay.

But when I've seen CL fans from USA discussing that Odd's gay, some of them focus of many reasons. But I've only heard that the fans who watched the English version and that think Odd's gay could think he's a homo because of the voice. That said, in other versions of CL I hardly think anyone would blame the VA for making Odd sound like a homo.

I just made a poll about it. I wanna see what you think about it.

I would have to say, personally, it has to do with #1 and #2 in the poll. I mean, look at the chop I did with Aelita in Odd's clothes a while back. I think that should speak for itself, dont you?

I blame those who write Odd's lines that Matt records. He claims to have a "way" with the ladies, but in "A Fine Mess", he (in Yumi's body) says that Ulrich can "practice" on him. *puke*

Though I love Matthew Geczy very much (he should prove that he loves me back), his lines are very...um...*face turns green*.

People have a habet of trying to clasify evry one into a groupe which degrades them, especaly if there difrent. in the 1600 (and erlyer), it was being a hartic(sp, I know my spelling sucks). Today it just hapens to be homosexulas.

So, in hence, the stranger the charector, the more people will try to clsify them into a groupe. Here are more examples:

WW2: Natzi(sp)
Vetnam war/WW2 (I think.): Comunest
Early 1700s: Trator or Tory, depending on who the acuser is.
1800: N/A
Prohabition: Moonshiner/smuggeler exc.
Also Early 1600: Whitch

As you can see, it is a common trend for each era to have at least one name which is highly degrading and can/will get you imprisond or killed.

Now that I actually READ this thread thoroughly, I have to retract my vote for #2 as I realise you are talking about his dialog and not his "lines" as in his look (thinking in terms of animation on that one for whatever reason).

I dont think his lines really constitue him being "homosexual" but more as a "pimp" as one would call him. What with the going out with just about every girl in the same grade and all.

the reason he said that Ulrich could practice on him was because he was trying to help a friend. he wasnt going to go further than flirting because i doubt that neither Ulrich or Odd want to THAT kind of practicing on eachother either way. besides... in Dragonball Z people have often called Frieza gay when he isnt. same thing basically.

I'd probably say his looks, above anything else. I mean, come on. Purple. From head. To toe. Well, not toe, but you get my point. And, uh... I think using the word "homo" in the title is a little bit offensive...

Yeah. I don't think there's anything about Mr. Geczy's voice that makes him sound "girlish" or anything, and not much about the way he acts, either. I think people should stop trying to classify like that. (And besides, they kind of emphasized that he wasn't because he's dated every girl in the 8th grade... well, except for Aelita of course. )

I think it's just Odd's general way... he flirts with anything that breathes, he wears a lot of purple, and he just comes off as being very comfortable with who he is and what he stands for. I don't think falling for a guy (or having a one-night stand with one ) would bother Odd extremely.

I agree with Skysong. I don't see how it could be Mr. Géczy's voice for him, and his lines don't suggest to me that Odd might be gay. It's probably the way he acts. Have you ever seen any guy wear that much purple? Maybe some people just think the things he does show he's gay.

For the year I only saw the commercials, and didn't watch it, I thought he was a girl. And even though he is my favorite, he is a little freaky. I think he's been dropped on his head a lot as a baby...

Bell-bottom pants. I never saw a guy in the 21st century wear beel-bottom pants, unless they were faking being a disco freak. He dresses a little gay.

Even so, he wouldn't date Yumi on the first ep. if he was gay.

I have to say I don't see Odd as being gay in any way - a flirt yes, very self confident yes, flamboyant yes - but straight as a die (not that I have anything against gays though).

That said, when I first got into CL I did think he was a girl (like the ultimate Tomboy) - the trailers and opening credits gave me that preconception and I even ignored the masculinity in Matt's voice until someone said he was male - I'm a fool!

The fact that Odd IS a catboy is one of the main reasons that drew me into it! :3 I mean, how often do you see a canon catboy, a total goofball, and completely angst-free?! I mean, sure, they're like catboys that are canon but if they're goofy in any way, then they've got SOME angst hidden in there somewhere... either that or they're catboys that are gay. *coughLovelesscough*

Well, I though in any case Odd could be considered as gay, it would most likely be a mixture of his dressing, lines, voice.. the entire Odd himself makes others think of him as gay. Although, he could be considered as metrosexual IF the producers make him change clothes constantly.
