Xana's mark, what does it mean

what does the bullseye like mark of xana mean, is it just the mark of XANA or the general mark of lyoko?

What leads me to believe that it's the general mark of Lyoko is that it's also Aelita's symbol (at least it is when it's pink...) and that it's integral with the tower platform.

you are quite right in that it is Lyoko's general mark and that Aelita probably uses it too. however, XANA took over lyoko so by rights it would become HIS mark in a sense. kind of like dethroning a king and taking their place. you took the crown and power which has in effect become yours, along with everything in the kingdom. so if XANA's mark was like a King's crown then by rights it became his the moment he became Lyoko's ruler.

I think, like the Dark Mark from Harry Potter , it shows when X.A.N.A attacks or has attacked.

So I think its XANA's "key" to the earth world ^^

I think the Mark of XANA is definatly the Mark of Lyoko - evidenced by it's intergration into all the architecture.

As for it's meaning I have a few ideas but they are based on metaphors and imagery rather than fact.

One thought I have is that XANA has perverted the symbol much like Hitler and the Nazis perverted the swastika, an aincient rune which literally translated as 'Peace', but which, of course, has very different modern connotations.

I considered it at one point but because I can't really extrapolate a genuine meaning from it, I only noticed it looks a bit like these SQUIDS
