"The Incredibles" on CL!

Postby Lyoko Wario » Sat Sep 22, 2007 2:09 pm

Have you guys noticed that a magazine with a character that seems remarkably like Mr. Incredible from the Pixar movie has show up in several CL episodes? Ulrich was reading the magazine a couple of episodes back before he got called on his cell phone, and right now as I'm watching "A Lack of Goodwill" I saw Jim reading the very same magazine while he supervised William's detention! Actually, this time around you could see more of the character and he really, really looks like Incredible... what do you guys think? Also, I can't help but notice the stupid expression they've put on his face both times.

I guess the movie is popular in France or something.

No, Mr. Incredible always has a stupid expression on his face in CL...

Maybe they're mocking shallow American action heroes. :D

Jim was reading the Batman comic. Tee hee hee hee! I love the product placement in Cl. It makes it more real when it's a cartoon. When it's live-action, it's just advertising.

I agree. And it's an interesting way for one group of cartoonists to elbow-nudge another.

And! I think I saw Mr. Incredible again in "Guided Missile"! (did anyone else notice?)

Well, if you think about it, Mr. Incredible has a very generic outfit- a red jumpsuit with an "I" logo on the chest, facemask, and black boots and gloves. Not exactly complex or subtle. It's entirely possible that they were aiming for something else entirely.

Yeah, but he has the same hair and colossal square chin...

The similarity is too great for my blood.

Yeah, because BLONDE HAIR and SQUARE-CHINNED super heroes are SO uncommon...

I maintain that the character on that magazine was Mr. Incredible. None of the "factors" are particularly significant by themselves, but when you put them together, the character does look remarkably like him. He is a fat, muscular guy. Not many superheroes are fat. He wears a red outfit with a short black collar and a black eyemask, has blond hair in the exact same style as Incredible, and his chin is the same. They added beard stubble and a stupid grin, but come on, look at the guy! That's him!

Um...nope. Not Mr. Incredible. See here

Although one of the cover pictures (the one with just the face) looks remarkably like Syndrome, but it probably isn't. There's still a few key differences.
