I've been digging through Lord of the Rings paraphernalia online and I found something that makes the CL fan inside me crack up.

This is a screen-cap of a dead orc from an animated version of the Return of the King. See anything familiar?

That emblem on the helmet, looks very, very similar to something else I know...

Hmm......XANA = Sauron - quick, anyone know of anything on Lyoko that could possibly be a Ring of Power? All we need to do is find it, and then we can destroy it in the fires of Mount 'Quest for Infinity Volcano Sector'!

Hmm, maybe Aelita's earring...oh pinkie! Gimme that innoculous piece of jewelry! I don't care if it is your precious!

On a serious note, this does look to me like a possible influence for the design of the Eye of Xana/Lyoko - also, both have something in common - they are both stylized eyes - the mark of Sauron is described as 'the Great Eye' or something similar - possible? Probable? Any opinions?

Wow, that's an interesting find. That could of been an inspiration. After all, Mulan was, so why can't LOTR be?

Except Mulan is Chinese, and the Chinese and Japanese have a very aggressive history with each other...and Yumi and Mulan are nothing alike...and Yumi's personality is apparently based on her creator, Tania.

I had heard that Yumi and Mulan look alike, but personally I have never seen the similarity. In my opinion the difference in design (maybe they would be more similar to each other if they both were live-action people) make the characters seem very different, and although both of them are very brave and daring their behavior is also distinctly different. I guess the idea comes from the fact that both of them are Asian girls (but Mulan is sixteen, two years older than Yumi) who wear their hair at the same length and in more or less the same style. One time, I even read about the physical similarity on Wikipedia, and disagreed profoundly.

I think both of them are cool. I wonder who would win in a fight?

...Yumi's personality is based on Tania's? That's nice. Tania must be nice to know.

I typed that stuff in. ^_^; However, I only said that their hair and voices look similar, And a BIT of similar facial design (you know, the "Asian beauty" look).
