GameFAQs, of course, thinks it sucks.

I MAY get this sometime later in the week. Depends on how successful I am with pulling myself away from Alpha Centauri (Now with 100% more Alien Crossfire!).
My SN is spelled Feld, not Field. Keep getting it right, Carth.
I has opinions. On things.

... the game is horrible. I recommend not getting it.

Seriously. Even the music is terrible. I'm seriously surprised that I'm saying this. I've played a lot of bad games, but OH MY FRICKEN GOD.

Though that's my opinion. Feel free to see the game yourself.

Games based off of TV shows and movies are typically not of the best quality... and I've never seen Code: Lyoko as an RPG-style game. Action/adventure, yes, but RPG? Not really.

I haven't played it yet, due to a lack of DS, but I'd like to give it a try.

Sorry for the double post, but...

I decided to extract the music from the game using extraction tools of a ROM.

This is the multiplayer song I encoded => http://www.filefactory.com/file/a3012e/ ... player_mp3

I'll add the rest as they upload. :)

Personally, the game was okay. Not really good or bad, but okay.

Problems:
The interaction with the real world was far less than the previous title. You are stuck between flipping through three scenes(In front of the school, on campus, and by the park), you click an NPC and sit through the dialogue. Eventually, you have to tap a button near the top of the touch screen to wrap instantly to the factory.

Battles are short, but numerous. Certain areas have you fight tons of enemies and depending on your level, you can clear through them in 1-to-2 turns or be completely pwned(like in the first William fight). There is also no way to avoid battles, the monsters engage you after you reach a certain distance.

Non-William Boss battles were too easy. They had a lot of life, but they would attack every 2-4 turns of your actions and wouldn't do a whole lot of damage anyway. Sitting there and attacking with the same attacks until they're dead can be tedious.

Devirtualization is a joke. Why use in-game healing items? Once you reach the beginning of a new area, you choose to devirtualize and then reappear in the same area with full life. It is a dominant strategy.

The "Tension" mini-game can actually do less or equal damage than a normal attack. So...what's the point of the limit break?

The Chibi style is not for everyone.

Pluses:
The combat is similar to many RPGs and is pick up-and-play. The choice of attacks are many without being overwhelming and you can build a strategy easily against certain enemies.

Plug-ins are easy to gain and very useful, though you can glitch certain ones for an unfair advantage. You can't buy them, but you can assign them to your party members to compliment their strengths and weaknesses easily.

It's fun to use the stylus and touch screen to move and select. Though your hand can get tired after awhile.

Unlike the previous title, Jeremy talks less while you are in-game, so it doesn't break up the flow as much.

The animation system is spectacular and watching all the effects never gets dull.

New enemies and the volcano sector are always cool to see.

Things I noticed
Not really good or bad. Some of the puzzles are hard to visualize due to the overwhelming size of certain levels.

The ending of the game was far too abrupt and would have been nice to have seen it lengthened a bit.
Fictional Conversation after the Episode "Routine:

Ulrich - "You couldn't wait, could you?"
Jeremy - "What are you talking about?"
*Ulrich grabs and lifts Jeremy by his collar.
Ulrich - "I was this close to tasting her porcelain lips. We weren't in any danger, but noooo! You had to return to the past anyway!"
*Jeremy sniffles as Aelita appears on screen and rolls her eyes
Aelita - Ulrich, put him down.

Why won't they make the game for something a little more common, like pcs, or choose a side in the xbox vs ps3 war? I don't have a DS, and i'm not about to buy one.

anyway, with this:

Don't the creators of the game known that William was freed in episode 93?

I think the 2nd DS game was supposed to take place INSTEAD of Season 4, but I dunno.

I just got it today. It's okay...It's not the greatest I've seen, but it's okay.

Yeah, QFI/FOX both take place as Season 4 replacements. Which is just fine, seeing as how Season 4 NEVAR ENDEDZ0RZ. [/CNhaet]

Just picked it up today, myself. Despite making EVERYTHING touchscreen-dependent (something I object to rather vocally as a lefty), it works a lot better than your average FPS-worshipping game reviewer will let on.

Changed it to "worshipping". I hope I got the meaning correct...

I never really intended to get this game in the first place...I'm kinda disappointed to hear it's not that good. X( Ah well. I liked the chibis. They're cute.

Wonder what they'd do for the third one. Maybe a game based on the Code Lyoko CCG? That'd be fun, especially if it let you design your own cards.

EDIT: Hmm, scratch that. The only Code Lyoko TCG I can find is what appears to be a fan-made one.

Haven't played it yet but I'm going to. Did anyone notice that on the amazon page for the game, it's description starts off by saying: "Code Lyoko 2 X.A.N.A. is up to her old tricks again"? That's weird.

The in-game dialog waffles between "his," "her," and "its" over the course of the game. I say XANA is a Progenitor facsimile of the Hunter-Seeker Algorithm.

Don't believe me? Read these. Focus on the ones made by the Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri addict.

Eh...
I just got it, and I kinda like it. But, there are a couple of things that I don't like.
For one, the "Super-Deformed Mode" is, um, creepy. Also, I am really ticked off by the fact that you can't move around the battlefield while being attacked in order to dodge. Third, the 2D adventures haven't returned either, which I really enjoyed in the first game and missed in the Wii game. Fourth and foremost, the "Tension" mode does weaken attacks if you are a micromilisecond late.
However... I do like the fact that now, we can battle as all four heroes on Lyoko at once. Also, the use of items in the game does get pretty handy at times. Plus, I am really excited about the multiplayer feature.
I really gotta fix up this theme

My experiments with the Tension system seem to indicate the presence of bugs. Specifically, a perfectly executed Tension attack will multiply your attack power by the intended value for about the first three character levels, but fail to take into account Attack+ plugins, enemy defense, and the like. I recently proposed a patch/fix on GameFAQs that would fix Tension as well as do the following:

- Give Odd a new set of Skills that inflicts status effects to compensate for his lack of multi-target attack power.
- Give Ulrich a new set of regular attacks that doesn't tie up all his power in mid-level multi-target attacks.
- Revamp Aelita's Skills so they don't turn useless once the HP/DP Scan plugins are acquired.
- Temporarily boost Odd and Yumi's EXP acquisition rates.
- Fix the end credits FMV.

Eventually, you have to tap a button near the top of the touch screen to wrap instantly to the factory.

That's what I hate about RPGs. You have to waft through page after page of ridiculoius and utterly pointless dialogue by the NPCs. At least in Quest for Infinity they have actual voice acting.
