Well, back when we had the whole "TB3 MIA" incident, it happened after a rash of various mysql errors on the forums. So taking that into account, im just being cautious this time around I guess.

meh. this thread can be deleted i guess seeing as I dont see anyone missing. :umm:

I think this is valid, because Lyoko_Addict seems to have suffered the same fate as I did.

There's only one logical explanation for this... Hackers! (Unles you count the fourm itself becoming sentet, and being angey, because of all of the non-posting mebers as a logical explanaition.)

Lyoko_Addict just made a post about being treated like a New Kid because his post-count has dropped, and when I looked it said 1, but through his profile there's access to several hundred posts which aren't showing up in his post count - maybe it got it wrong VChat, if so then sorry.

It's not the same Lyoko Addict. Reference here...

And some noob stole my name... he/she added a _ so they are Lyoko_Addict. Looks exactly like Lyoko Addict on the Recently posted thing. Just a heads up in case they do something weird.

I don't think we lost anyone this time around, thankfully. ^_^

Ohhh geez. >_O If it wasn't such a hassle I'd totally switch to vBulletin and start LF all over again.

Thankfully it seems that everything is intact now. The MySQL errors probably have to do with a little burp in the system and it momentarily couldn't connect to the database. Nothing serious.

Hackers... I doubt it. MAYBE last time, but I still think this was just some kind of error on either my host's part or phpBB's part. I don't know why/how though. *shrug*

Aside from the truckload of threads we'd lose and the boxful of members, and installing vBulletin on the server, what other hassle is there?

Haha. It wouldn't happen. LF is staying where it is. I was only saying that since vBulletin is better, faster, more efficient, more user-friendly, less buggy, easier to customize, and easier to moderate/administrate, I would buy one if there was a way to do it without loosing everything. :P

actually there are converters out there to transfer all that data over to vB. not that they are 100% accurate or anything. I know when I tried using a phpBB to IPB converter I had lost quite a bit of data like avatars and usergroups to name a few.

I actually find the price of phpBB far outweighs the pro's of vB and IPB. although im sure if I had the disposable income to buy either of them, I would do it in a heartbeat.

And that's what they said when Tome was switching to CNet.

There were converters for the Tome Takeover. But they were reserved mostly for the editors of shows and actors so that they could carry their editor status over to the new site. There were links to them on the help board. I even got the opportunity to use one, so I know they actually did have them. :)

Personally I liked the phpbb setup, despite my 'unique' experience with it - I find it a much more pleasant system to work with than other forums I've been on.

Well, phpBB is nice once you learn all about it. But think about it this way: phpBB is to vBulletin as Geocities is to having your own server.

Anyway, I seriously don't think this would ever happen. Not now, anyway. You've got nothing to worry about. :)
