New Forum-- You guys make one!

Someone (101, I think) asked a while back if I might make a new forum... What she didn't know was that I was seriously considering it. Only, I need your help.

What do you all think would make for a good, new forum here at LF? Help me brainstorm, and then I'll take the good suggestions and we'll all vote on which one to put in.

My ideas:

Help (as 101 suggested) - Have a problem? We can help you!
Rant - Life sucks. Venting helps.

What are your thoughts?

LF Members Support sounds like a good idea, encompassing both "Help" and "Rant", but I was just trying for a better title (it didn't work...)

Don't I get a say? I think I do, so let me ask a few question before you start adding things on to my home here.

Yes a Member Help Board sounds super but people, are you really going to listen and take advise from each other and really use it??? I know I help alot of you guys out and alot of you use my advise in your lidfe's but still, it sounds good now but is this something we will use just for a few months or is this a something that will be the selling point of the site.

Just like BKO is a unique board here at LF and it makes people want to come, we need to make sure this new board will be a used and talked about for a long time.

If you do make it, I will be in there as a helper for my members, I just LOVE to help you guys out with your real life...and you help me out as well.

A LF members support is a good idea, but somehow I dobut it would be thta popular and maybe even die. How about like a forum where LF members can talk like not general disscussion and the member support could be part of that.

I voulenteer myself to be a mod! j/k (or am I? )

Oboy is right this is a long time in coming...we have needed this for awhile...I mean when stuff happens that really gets to us it feels good to tell someone...but then again not everyone feels that way...it will be a good fourm but it will not be very active (hopefully) so who ever is a mod for it won't be doing that much lol

A fourm for other anime shows as well...we seem to have so many on genral disscusion, so we might as well give them their own home. We can take the topics and move them from GD. This may be a CL base site, but there is no reason we cant expand as well.

well we can add a fourm for just certain things like original fics(quite a few ppl have written some now) or just regular media like videos and stuff like that

Anyway, hmm... idea... how about a board specifically for site help, seperate from this one?

Regarding the 'help' concept I'm not so its a good idea - I considered saying this when Sweetsorrows asked for help but couldn't think of a way to phrase it kindly - but is it a good idea for us to offer each other advice, particularly the younger members - most of us are strangers, what if we made a mistake because we don't know someone well enough and they got hurt?

We could put a disclaimer? That any and all advice taken from the forum is not necessarily from a board certified specialist, and that it is ultimately the seeker's responsibility to make their own decision in the matters that they post about.

I do like this idea of a support group forum though. All the "goodbye" threads could also be put there, so that LF members could say their goodbyes and give final words of encouragement and the like. Sort of like the newbie board, only reversed. ^^;

Goodbye threads on a support forum ? I hardly doubt it. It could end up in spam and fighting, probably.

Erynn, if you're pulling this out, two things:
1. Make the forum hidden, just like BKO. Privacy issues.
2. Make the support forum slightly like BKO, but just for starting a thread. Sometimes when people are sad and frustrated, it might be a bit pesky to put on the * on the possible cussing words.

If agree with Rodri. A BKO approach might be the best. I'm so depressed at times, I can only vent my rage with lots of swears.

Hey, here a clue for you....why not save Erin the time and effort of having a nother board and I don't know......ummm, USE THE FREAKING BKO BOARD YOU HAVE ALREADY!!!

I was going to post something about that in the board later this week. You all are crying that BKO is not on top anymore, well duh we did all the fun stuff already.

Now is the time for all of us to share our lifes with each other. Where is the Teen Issues post in BKO? We need a things like that in that board, that's what BKO is for...Big Kids ONLY, so "BIG KIDS" let talk about your life in there, it just siting there for you.

All we need to do is sticky some main topics and that's it, there is your member help board. Some topics are

Teen Sex and Love (BF/GF, and teen sex)
Teen Violence (Bullies and stuff like that)
School and the Future (help you future college kids, we got three college students to help you out)
Parental Isses
Self Esteem Isses
Job Finder (Help you get great jobs)
Homework Help (Got a smart Admin, hello!)
Etc.

The only thing Star would have to do is clean it up and add a Mod to help out X1 and you got a two fer. A Member help board and a fun place for big kids.

This is what we could use. I'll dominate Self Esteem. These are the things that I face most of the time and that I might need help on. About bullying, I got a scar by being bullied by 11 YEARS OLDS! I'm 16 years old, 6ft and 2 1/2 inches and get bullied by midgets from year 7! What’s the world coming to?!
But those issues are defiantly good a help section.
