Does a nickname I gave myself count? I started calling myself "M.A." in about seventh grade because A) people would spell my name wrong (there are a million different spellings and no one EVER remembers when I tell them the correct version) and B) if I tell teachers my real name, even *if* I tell them that I use both names, they invariably start calling me "Mary". DEATH.
