Macross or Robotech?

For anyone who has seen both the American Robotech and the Japanese Macross, which do you prefer?

The "American" cartoon Robotech is composed of three separate Japanese cartoons edited together. Macross is the first third of these cartoons. Macross is fairly as popular as Gundam in Japan so im asking anyone who has seen both Robotech and Macross which do they like better.

I'm watching the last season right now (when they fight against the Invid)...but yea....Macross is much better....hehe...I still remember that scence when the SDF Macross rips through the Zentraedi armada with a shot of it's main cannon....

ANd the last scene, when Kyron crashes against the SDF....god...I loved that part!!! Both him and his commander became what they had fougth, and enjoyed the love of the Micronians...at least for a second...

I havent seen the original Japanese Macross yet but I have seen the Robotech version. That part was just about the only Robotech piece I saw. I rather liked the main character's Japanese name better than his American name (American Robotech name: Rick Hunter, Japanese Macross name: Hikaru Ichijo). I have seen other Macross works such as the alternate universe "sequel" Macross II and the classic Macross Plus. Have you seen either of these and if you saw Macross Plus, was it great for you?

Good to hear that. Have you seen the other series like Macross 7 the one with the Fire Bomber band and Macross Zero the prequel to the original Macross?
