Is Good Charlotte Emo?

I'm just wondering, I know the advertise it as pop/punk but I read all the lyrics in the chronicals of life and death cd (yes I like them I dont care what anybody says!) and they were all very sad, and then I read this harry potterXdraco malfoy fanfic (one page) which can be viewed here and it made me very sad (please read it it's very short even if you hate HP and that couple reading something for me wont kill you) so..

the question is..at the root of their music is good charlotte and emo group? even if you vote please comment with your take on them

Ive always though they were Punk Pop. And isn't emo supposed to be like metal in which the singers in a way shout or scream the lyrics?

I thought emo stood for emotional, thats what most of the people at my school call emo, kind of depressing at the root,

About a year or so ago, I was into Good Charlotte. Then I hated them. However, recently, I've been listening to their cd ("The Young and the Hopeless"--I'm aware it's not the most recent one) and I really like it!! =D

Emo...hmm....though I personally dislike Good charlotte as any kind of genre....it's more emo than anything else...though nowadays punk's becoming a weak reflection of it's awesome years...

anyways, yea...for me GC is an emo punk (not a good one btw, but an emo nonetheless)

At my school, we've had a debate of sorts about that.

We came to a conclusion that Good Charlotte, along with a couple of other bands, were emo. And that only around 15% actually listened to emo. But My school isn't that big, so we can have some pretty good debates and stuff.

More of the school were into The Killers, Green Day, Relient K, and one of my least favorites, My Chemical Romance.

But only two of those bands we classified as emo. The girls were into Hilary Duff and JoJo, while the guys liked Green Day and The Killers.

We had a massive schoolwide survey just to passy by some time in a class, but I forget which one...

hilary duff and jojo, my personal opinion says tehy sing shallowly about breakups when they have never been in love and they are just taking up space on their record lables but thats my opinion anyone who likes those people gonna go ahead and say it's my opinion and dosn't mean anything mto anyone except myself, as for The Killers, Green Day, Relient K, and My Chemical Romance, eh, green day is really pretty good, I love the voice of the killers, barely listened to relient k their so so and MCR is pretty good *shrus* I like evanescence and slipknot the best

Green Day, I would have to say is my favorite. And I couldn't agree with you more on the JoJo, Hilary Duff factor, Hater~of~Haters. I do believe their music is annoying and pointless. And they have commercial voices. The Killers on the other hand, I like because they have a different sound from the rest of the rock/punk bands out there. Same with Green Day. I too like Eavenescence and MCR. I have never heard any Slipknot songs though. Too many Goths in my school are into that. And I like to be known as bright and cheery.
