I'll admit I'm a total sucker for French movies. :D I've been watching these gangster movies by this director named Jean Pierre Melville, and I love 'em. Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy) might as well have been a movie; it was that awesome. Oh, and then there's this thing called Code Lyoko... Anyone seen any good French movies that you would recommend? PM me.

Anyway, check out the the hottest thing coming out of France since croissants: Renaissance
I first saw an ad for this in Electronic Gaming Monthly, and instantly knew it was something to keep an eye on. It's visually stunning and, with any luck, will give Japanese cyberpunk a serious run for its money.
Here is some info on it:

It's a-comin' to US theatres September 22. Which means the Brits will probably be blogging about how awesome it was a week before we get to see it ^^. The French version is already available in DVD and HD-DVD format. Discuss or whatever.

Apparently, it''s in theatres for only today.

The animation style looks familiar...

And aha, note the french sewers?I have never heard of a city more obsessed with it's poop.

Sorry, no color. They wanted it to have a "noir" feel to it. Like those old Private Investigator movies.

The animation style is actually motion-capture, just like CL and Fahrenheit, and it's cell-shaded CGI, much like Appleseed.
