Why not? Girlfriend break up with you?

Mine wasen't so good just for the fact that everyone had a girlfriend but me. Thats why everyone at my school calls it Singles Awareness Day.

Same here, except in my case I don't have a boyfriend, but I might be getting one soon.

I don't even know how the trend of boyfriend/girlfriend loving happened on St. Valentine's Day in the first place.

Saint Valentine was martyred around teh Roman festival of love, called Lupercal. The Catholic church, in their habit of co-opting pagan festivals (see: date of Christmas) decided that would be a good time for a Festival of Love.

That was because the pagans entering the church at that time brought their customs with them. Vatican II held a council in the 60's to undo some of those changes.
Thank Theology class for this knowledge.

Meh. But most of the stuff you (and that applies for everyone) knows about Church customs was originally pagan. For example, genuflecting is pagan, December 25th is pagan, incense, candles, and stained glass <s>(in excess, like in most old churches)</s> is pagan, etc...

Which is why the Seperatists (not the CIS from Star Wars you moron {YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE}) said "to Poland with that", and went all the way to the magical land of North America to eat turkey with Natives before taking their land.
