I got the game not to long ago, and I have to agree with some of the gaming geeks in my school. They did a very good job redesigning it. I really like the new WiFi centers, and the new battle UI is intruiging. I give it a 4.5 out of 5 stars, with the half point being taken out because they do not let you gain access to Newmoon Island without having an event...

... Platinum's basically Diamond/Pearl + Battle Frontier + new sprites + new wifi features + alt. forms for Giratina, Shaymin and Rotom.

As good as this may all sound to some/most, it still seems like a waste of money to me. I need features that actually sound appealing and worth the money in order to buy a 'remake' game like this.

But from the people I know that bought it, they've loved it.

What do "Alternate Forms" do, exactly? That's never been really clear to me.

Basically, they let the aforementioned Pokemon have a different appearence, type and ability along with new moves it can learn. Its base stats are also different. Although the alternate form for Shaymin isn't accessable unless you got the Shaymin from the event at Toys 'R Us a while ago...
