I'm mostly Scot with a side of Anglo. Basically, my roots are British. We can trace various branches of my family tree to both the colonies and to the 'motherland', so it's hard for me decide if my family is old or new to the country.

Generally, I latch on to a matrilineal trace of my ancestry, and that takes me back to the clan MacLeod of Harris on Skye Island.

I've never visited a foreign country, but my anticipated graduation gift after taking my bachelor's degree this spring is a young adults' nine-day tour through London and Paris. An option I plan to take advantage of is extending my stay by two days and taking a train north into Scotland to see Dunvegan, my clan's castle, and perhaps shake the hand of someone with the surname.

I have a tee shirt made which features a quote from a story my professor loves to tell.

<a href="https://www.cafepress.com/karinberry.19474798">here</a>

FRONT:
"I'm not scotch! (that's a drink) [insert picture of a shot of scotch on the rocks]
I'm a Scot, and don't you forget it!" [the word 'scot' is filled in with my clan's formal tartan]

BACK:
Proud descendant of the clan MacLeod

My prof loved it when he saw it. We had a good laugh. :)

I went with TB3. Really liked what I saw.
With the whole national origin stuff, TB3 and I are 50/50 Welsh (Dad) and English (Mum). Her family has connections to ancient royal Germans.

Scotland's a great country. I especially love their dancing. :) My father is buying me a highland dance outfit and I am researching the outfits that they used to wear in the 50s and 60s.

Scotland's amazing! XD I have alot of Scottish music on my iPod, my favorite being the ballad "Alasdair Mhic Cholla Ghasda" (or sometimes just "Alasadair MacColla"), paying homage to the great warrior Alasdiar MacColla.

And, I know dark tales.........Go to the southwest part.......Galloway, Girvan, Ballantre, or up northeast to East Lothian, and hear about the greatest criminal who ever lived.............

I've never been to Scotland, but I'm sure it's a perfectly adequate place.

And you gotta love those Scottish games. Like the ones where the dudes carry big logs and whomever can throw it the farthest wins or something. The irony in those things alone is enough to entertain me. Never has a guy been so manly whilst also wearing a skirt.
