Here's a little something I posted on another message board. Thought it'd be fun to discuss here, too...
Considering how huge Batman has become in the zeitgeist since Batman Begins and especially after The Dark Knight, I figured we'd have a chat about the "lost" fifth movie in the Burton-Schumacher series of the 80s and 90s. It was going to be directed by Joel Schumacher, though by that point he'd already apologized for doing what he did with the fourth (and to a lesser extent the third) movie in that series and had promised to make this one into a more "straight" entry in the series in tune with what Tim Burton had done before. Considering the premise, it's a shame we didn't get to see it.
Not all of this info is on the link I provide, but I've gathered this from different parts of the Internet. Basically, here's the story: Robin decides to head off to college, where he proceeds to be mysteriously murdered. So Batman fits the pieces together and discovers that the murderer is none other than... the Scarecrow! So his villainous misdeeds were kept for the reboot. Although he was going to be the "main" antagonist this time around, here's the kicker: the Joker's back, and guess who'd fight by his side? Here's a hint. It rhymes with charlie twin.
Yes. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
And then... no. It got cancelled.
