The 7th Generation Of Video Gaming

Postby TL. » Sun Oct 30, 2005 2:43 pm

With the next generation of consoles approaching us with the release of the X-Box 360 later this year and the PlayStaion 3 sometime in 2006, its time to wonder: will Bill Gates vast pockets push his console onto the position of market leader in consoles? Or will Sony emerge champions for the third time in a row?

I'm up for PS3. What are YOU up for?

Let’s debate!

The PS3 is gonna rock. I feel sorry for the losers who will buy the 360, no offense, but the PS3 is going to be the most powerfull peice of hardware in the world when it comes out.

I'm definitly getting the Revolution because it'll be the cheapest and I like nintendo. And if I can afford it, I would get a PS3 over the 360.

Let me tell you about the Revolutions controller: It looks alot like this:
Imagewith less buttons though. The controller is held in one hand, and played in one hand. However, the Gamecube controllers ARE compatible with the Nintendo Revolutions. Games from the first nintendo system to the new Revolutions games can be played on it.

I couldn't agree more. The Killzone PS3 trailer was awesome. But I did hear that the trailer itself was created independently of the game, and might not be an accurate representation of the true capabilities of the PS3. At any rate, I hope Killzone 2 will be better designed than Killzone 1, which was a bit over-hyped and then proved to be quite a disappointment.

Hyperbole is a term for when something average is hyped about as if its a world-shaking event.

Your comment on how Killzone was a bit disapointing suggested that to me.

Oh, now I get it. I didn't know that was the tagline.

For some reason or other, I find the Helghast to be rather disturbing. They conjure up unpleasant visions of the past...

I think that's another reason why the Helghast make such good villans - they are the Third Reich reborn.

Uh.. uh.. *is lost*

I want an Xbox 360 because.. well... I'm an Xbox fan. And um... The PS3 will probably cost more. Not that I'd be able to get either as soon as they come out, seeing that I have no money and my parents don't love me that much. (Well, OK, if I got a 4.0, cleaned the entire house from top to bottom including the garage, and found a cure for cancer, they might get me one sooner.)

What exactly was the plotline of Killzone? It just seemed to be: Helghast invade Vekta, brutal war ensues. Whatever happened at the end of the game? And what might be the plot of Killzone 2? Whatever it is, I'm sure it'll be exploited by the PS3's unmatched graphics capabilities...

Here the basic plot outlines:

The Helghast invade Vekta when the orbital SD platform network has a system crash. During the heat of the battle, Templar, Lugar and Rico are sent to find one of their spies, Hakha, who has got information vital for the war effort.

While whey go off, General Vaughton goes up the SD platform with a program to reset the system. Templar & co. find Hakha, who tells them that the SD platform system has been taken control by one of its computer under Helghast control. After hacking the system, it turns out that SD platform's commander, General Adams, has defected to the Helghast.

Unaware of this, Vaughton resets the SD system...only to be shot by Adams who now has complete control of the SDs, and destroys an ISA fortress.

Our heroes decide the reach the SD platform and disable it before reinforcements from Earth arrive. If not, the whole fleet would be destroyed by the SDs. After many levels, the SD command satellite is destroyed, Adams and the Helghast army commander are killed, and the Earth fleet arrives.

'They be back. The Helghast, I mean' Says Lugar.
'Yeah' Templar replies 'And we'll be ready.'

END

Hmm, Killzone certainly sounds interesting (I've never had the opportunity to play it, though), and the incredible trailer may be a significant motivation for me to buy the PS3 when it comes out...
