Do you really have to bump any thread that's inactive to try to get your post count up, and then post something that barely contributes to discussion?

This fandom could have been a fandom that I got into without any outside influence, but because my brothers found it unappealing, I was "forced to stop watching it." Then later when S2 finale ended, I was reintroduced to the series indirectly. And BEHOLD! I'm an avatard. .__. xD

Anyone have any idea when season three is going to air?

Since everybody is entitled to their own opinion, can I say Avatar: The Last Airbender is completely gay? Who cares about some bald guy with an arrow on his forehead?

You could express your opinion in better ways, and not need to worry about being banned.

On that note, the show is not bad. I really like to read about it (wikipedia, fan sites, whatever I can find), because they use some inspirations from real life. If I remember correctly, the Water Tribe is based off of the Inuits (Eskimos) in most aspects, amongst other things.

Little subtle things like that make me interested, and they're good for helping to develop your own world (if you're a fiction writer, like myself).

I don't know about you, but it sounds less like an opinion and more of an attack by calling something gay. It shouldn't be that hard to skip gay, and just say, "I don't like Avatar because xxx".

Excuse me. :D

Yes this is staying on the off-topic course, but there is absolutely nothing more on this Earth that annoys me more than people using that word in that sense, and it would behouve you to immediately cease doing so unless you wish to suffer dire consequences (as in getting yelled at by a number of people/banned/otherwise unhappy affairs). I'm saying this to avoid likely conflict now as well as in the future.

Now, that said.

I really love Avatar. Seriously, it has redeemed American television for me. It has so many elements of a good series it's almost scary. Involved underlying background, developed plot, loveable characters, romantic subplot, comedy, and most importantly: REALLY COOL FIGHT SCENES. <3

What's weird, weirdo? :P

Yeah... but their bending only works when they have water. .___.

Gauntlet wrote:Little subtle things like that make me interested, and they're good for helping to develop your own world (if you're a fiction writer, like myself).

Actually I agree with you on that one, Gauntlet. It does spark the imagination. Also the four bending styles are based off of four styles of Chinese martial arts (which everyone should know if they've seen the clips on Nick xD)

I think that's really cool. (I did an entire section on it in a multi-genre report before x3) Waterbending's based off of Tai Chi, Earthbending is from Hung Gar (Southern Praying Mantis in Toph's case), Firebending is Northern Shaolin Kung Fu, and Airbending is Ba Gua.

And the cool thing is those styles represent the nature of the elements. (ie Tai Chi is soft and flowing like water, Northern Shaolin is aggressive like fire, etc)

This is just speculation, but I think the Earth Kingdom is based majorly from China, the Fire Nation from Japan, and the Air Nomads from India or Tibet.

And, if you notice, most Water Tribe names have K's and most Fire Nation names have Z's. .___.

Those who cannot show their opinions are insecure about themselves, unless of course if showing your opinions results in immediate shunning or death, then it's okay. xD

But seriously, A:TLA is one of the best shows ever and definitliy one of the very best Nick has ever had.

I think what really attracts people's attention are their personalities, and how they contrast so much from Sugar Queen to The Blind Bandit to World's Last Hope and The Meat and Sarcasm Guy. And the way they develop their personalities is amazing as well.

It is the only show that makes the Nick network worth watching. Unlike other so-called "children's" shows, it has a depply developed plotline, dynamic (not static) charatcers, crisp animation, and witty moments in the script. Just on all the technical aspects alone, it is a good show. Throw in the fact it is highly entertaining, and you really have a winner.

Now get on with Book 3 already!

I love Avatar! Great anime-style animation and artwork coupled with the sensible storytelling of the West. Perfect combination. The characters are deep and don't seem forced, and the show has a very cool Chinese mythology-feel to it.

Sorry for the bump ^^

But has anyone seen the season 3 preview? They had it at Comic Con a few weeks ago. It looks really, really awesome IMO. Book 3: Fire, comes out September 21st!
