Yep. Because God thinks it's ugly. That's totally not discrimination. So I guess they aren't allowed to express their love for one another and stay away from the church, huh?

My policy on this issue is simple: As long as your both over 17 and it's consensual, whatever floats your boat....

Religion plays no role in decisions like this. In fact, such is a direct violation of the constitution. People have a right to live their lives as they see fit (within reason, of course), so the moral standards of one group should not effect the moral standards of everyone.

Now, let's say someone made it illegal to ware cloths because it was against their religion. What would you think?

What is Marriage viewed as a pillar of?

There's a pretty big difference between clothes and a tenet of civilization.

Mariage is a pillar of live and reproduction, It's drilled into our human mind, because humans have life long mates unlike most animals, which usually stay with their mates during the mating season. SSM is okay, I mean, but it just doesn't do what it's supposed to.
But anyways, that's another topic. Moving on.....>

And JF, if you look closely, there isn't. People are persecuted whether they wear the right clothes for their religeon just as mucha s if they marry someone of the same sex.

no, conception is a pillar of life and reproduction. Marriage is a pillar of most religions.

Religion means sh*t to me in a political argument. I don't care what religion you follow, whether it's Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Daoism, Voodoo, or something else. I don't care if your in the minority or the majority. Not every one follows the same religion as you do, and if you want them to respect your rights and freedoms as a citizen of whatever country, you have to respect their rights to believe in something different then you do.

I don't care if a male-to-female transsexual marries a woman and adopts 5 kids. It's their choice, and it helps reduce the stress on the foster care system.

I do, however, draw the line at marrying before you are a citizen. 13 year olds definitely should not marry.

Ah, so you are against what the ACLU does to Santa/Jesus/Christmas Trees/Cheese? Atheists are a minority.

Most 13 years old I know think girls are icky. I don't know any young teens who want to even shake hands with the opposite gender, let alone marry them. (that all comes at 14, I guess)

You missed the point of what I said. In political arguments such as this, religion is irrelevant. I don't care if the person I'm discussing this with is another atheist or not. I don't care if they're the Pope, or any other leader of any institution (secular or religious). If they believe that Homosexual couples don't have the right to have a legally protected marriage under the law, then I will disagree with them.

A group of people that annoy the hell (for lack of bettor words) out of 95% of atheists too. Can you stop attempting to prove that all secularists fall under that group? I think its getting on a lot of peoples nerves here.

I'm a Christian/Catholic and not even that devoted to the religion, but I still feel ashamed that the likes of JesusFreak give people that follow the Catholic religion a bad name. Appaling.

Okaaaayyyy...relax, everyone...I really don't want to see another thread temporarily locked because people can't respect other people's opinions...and stay on-topic.

JesusFreak, I have no idea why you're bringing up Christmas and the censorship of Christmas on a thread about Same-Sex Marriage. Please kindly stay on-topic from now on, and please try and be a little more mindful of a concept known as "generalizing"...as in, it's not a good thing to do unless you can back it up with hard, unbiased facts.

Thanks. ^^

Reesane was talking about same-sex marriages and why they should be legalized. Nowhere in her original post did she bring up Christmas, Santa or the censorship of either of those, which makes sense as they are off-topic here.

[quote="JesusFreak"]Atheists are a minority. [quote]

Hehheh, I severly beg to differ on that. Most of the people in my school and people I know are Aethiest.I've seen a pie-chart in city hall on it(no I dont have a picture and I wont have one). I'm Aethiest myself, and I personnally think this: "Wtf gives ANYONE the right to govern who other people's lives and who they love?" NO ONE! I could say a lot more, but I could lose a lot of friends in the process. And it sounds like you're saying being Aethiest is a bad thing.

JF, you're getting off topic again. This is rediculous! If you can't stay on topic, then we'll just lot\ck it again. And permanently. This is about the marriage between the people of the same sex. Not religeion, not christmas, not minorities. If you want to talkk about religeon, we have a thread for that. If you wanna talk about christmas, look through some of the old threads in GD and talk about it there. LyokoFreak isn't a bunch of chatrooms that vary from one subject to the other.

Now I know you want to talk about a lot of stuff, but you need to do it on some ofther threads, okay? No living in one thread here...
