I like the google search engine, and the services they offer ( such as gmail), but is it just me or do they seem to be taking over the world? and what could be done about it if it is bad?
p.s on a humors note, when they take over the US ( and rename it the Google States of America), you can always say " I'm feeling Kentucky!"

Yeah, it does seem like they're taking over the world sometimes. I recall seeing a video about the future of Google and stuff... darn it where is that thing...

Apparently it's either some kind of public service announcement or some kind of heavy message... anyways, it talks about how Google's supposed to basically like take over the web information industry by joining with Amazon and battling the NY Times in court. ...Or something.

Yeah. I don't know why it's not in that, but the first time I remember a girl looking up a satellite image/map hybrid on her iPod while simultaneously talking to someone and plotting destinations to hang out at. Now that's a little overboard, don't you think? (Although I think it most definitely will happen at some point lol)

Yah I heard about gmail. I also heard that a lot of email services were giving information to the government and google didn’t. I think that plays a part it why they created gmail. Anyway you have to be invited to get a gmail account, strange.

You know, my teacher had us read an "april fools day" version of how they rank the pages, and it has to do with pigeons trained to peck at certain words, and the ones with the mosts pecks would rank at the top of the page.
And on a related note, it seems a lot of people who come here came on a google search.

I love google lots and lots! 
I have the google toolbar and it has a language translator! I can translate most english words in an internet window into one of several languages (right now it's set on French).

I agree that google is great and wonderful in the things that they do, but there is a piece of me that thinks maybe they are getting to much power. And to much power in the hands of so few that can be a bad thing

I can actually give you an invite, if you wish. I have roughly 300 invites left. (3 Gmail accounts). It's now fairly easy to get an account, though I had a very early beta one..
