I play Magic, and its not a kid's game, its a game for geeks of all ages. Was part of a gaming club back in high school, which predominantly was Magic: the Gathering. There was some Yu-gi-oh players and for a year, we had Dungeons and Dragons until the school made it policy to ban it. Something to do with it being part of the occult (lousy ignorant close-minded bureacractic b*****ds). The teacher in charge of the club was in his late 30s and gave me my first deck. Before then, I was burrowing other decks.

Anyways, its a game to be enjoyed, no matter the age. Just because it has some fantasy elements in it does not make it juvenile.

mage power
mage power
fushi no tori
fushi no tori
dice jar
gravekeepers spear soldier

My strategy-
I would use my monsters and tribute them to summon 3 blue eyes, then i would fuse them. Then i would equip 3 mage powers on them and play megamorph BEFORE i inflict damage, already around 9000 Atk Points, adding megamorph would double it. Then Fairy meteor crush takes care of the monster in defense position and the difference being dealt as damage. In a case where they would try to stop my attack i would have my solemn judgement card to stop whatever they placed to stop my attack. Then its a win!
OR* I would summon cyber-stein, pay 5000 lifepoints, and summon blue eyes ultimate dragon and continue my strategy from there
There are many other strategies i used which i cant remember >.< sheesh
Today, i remain undefeated!

The other monsters are used as toys to bring out the real thing. Then i'd mix my deck with something else to be at an advantage. Even if i dont know who im dueling i can use basic strategies to protect myself. I dont want to list my other deck XD

Magic: the Gathering is one of the most sophisticated and well developed CCG's out there and I'm proud to say I play!
Sure, children can play it (and frequently do if my town is ANY example!), but experience and strategy are key!
It also received the Mensa Select award so don't think it's not challenging. All in all Play it and enjoy no matter what people say.
*calms down*
Oops guess I should have put this in rants.

Magic: The Gathering is a pretty good game. I started playing last year.

To answer your question Darkness Incarnate, MTG is not a kids game at all.
