Is Ohio considered Upper Midwestern? :umm: 'Cause if so, I shouldn't have gotten 0% for that one.

There was another quiz like this that I took one time but if you clicked on the answer it would tell you it's mostly from "blah". There was one that I remember one of the answers being centralized to Michigan and upper Ohio. Wish I could remember what it was though. That quiz was also fun 'cause it had a question that went something like "What do you call when you put a bunch of your belongings out on the front lawn and invite people to come over and look at them and buy them if they want them?" Didn't realize that there were people who didn't call it a yard sale or garage sale. Heck, I'd never even heard of a 'tag sale' before.

EDIT: Guess I should post my results.

Not necessarily. I use a little bit of southern slang *cough*y'all*cough*. It might have something to do with the people around you. Some of my teachers and a great deal of my mom's family came from West Virginia and they use a lot of slang that's more 'southern'.

I only got %5 each for Upper Midwestern and Midwestern. I expected that for U.M, not having lived in Wisconsin for 16 years, but Missouri hasn't rubbed of on me much, either, I guess.

I'm pretty sure Ohio is considered Midwestern, and MI is considered Upper Midwestern. ...I think. (Considering KY is considered the South..)

Just wondering, what did you guys put for the answers? (The results barely mean much when it comes right down to it lol)

Here's what I did:

1. The level of a building that is underground is called the:

Cellar
*Basement (Who calls them "cellars" these days?)

2. What do you call the night before Halloween?

Nothing
*Devil's night (Devil's night. Duh. It was either that or nothing,.)
Mischeif night

3. You bring back your groceries in a...

Sack
*Bag (Grocery BAG...)

4. The act of covering a house or area in front of a house with toilet paper is called...

Toilet papering
Rolling
*TP'ing ("Rolling?" Wtf?)

5. You call sweetened, carbonated beverages:

Soda
*Pop (I drink pop, you drink pop, we all scream for.... wait.)
Coke

6. You drink from:

*A water fountain (I've heard it both ways 'round here, actually, but I would say water fountain.)
A drinking fountain

7. You tend to call the sweet spread on top of cake:

Icing
Frosting
*Both (...Depends...)

8. Do you use the word cruller?

*No (What does that even MEAN?!)
Yes

9. What do you call a traffic situation in which several roads meet in a circle and you have to get off at a certain point?

Rotary
*Something else like a circle, traffic circle, or roundabout (I actually don't call it anything but most likely a traffic circle.)

10. What do you call an easy class?

A crip course
A gut
*A blow off (I would call it an easy class, but definitely not a "crop course" or a "gut")

11. If it's raining while the sun is shining, you call it:

The Devil is Beating His Wife
A sunshower
*You have no term for it (I've heard of the first choice, though I thought that's what you call thunder. o.O)

12. What do you call something that is diagonal from you?

*Kitty corner (Um.. I'm pretty sure EVERYONE says diagonal but otherwise I would say kitty corner.)
Diagonal
Catty corner

13. What is the four wheeled contraption you push around your groceries in?

Buggy
Carriage
*Shopping / grocery cart (Target = Shopping cart. Kroger = grocery cart. Duh.)

14. You work out in...

*Tennis shoes (I say gym shoes, but that's not an option..)
Sneakers

15. "Y'all"...

Just rolls off your tongue
*Is not sometihng you say (unless I'm pretending to be Southern or occasionally with my family...)

16. The second syllable in pajamas sounds like:

The A in jam
*The A in father (Pa-JA-Mas.)

17. Does "caramel" have two or three syllables?

*Two (Carmel. The a's silent. xD)
Three
You say it both ways

18. Do you pronounce "aunt" like "ant"?

Yes
*No (THE U IS THERE FOR A REASON!!)

19. "Route" rhymes with...

*Boot (Get your kicks, on Route 66! :sing:)
Out

20. Mary / marry / merry...

Are pronounced differently
*Are pronounced the same (How would they be pronounced differently? o.O)
