i guess that this would be an answer of both yes and no. yes because in the end machines are dominant, but no because XANA wants to enslave earth while Skynet just wants humanity erased. XANA was corrupted by power and went insane because good ol' Franz Hopper wanted to re-live one day for 20 years. Skynet attacked from self-defense when humans attempted to pull the plug on it and sees humanity as a threat to it's very existance.

umm in one of them i belive it was stated that sky net was created to erase human error or somthing to that effect. "They should have given better instructions . As for who would win.... X.A.N.A. could erase the sky net virus off the cpu's i do belive. it's been a long time sence i have seen Terminator, so im not sure about all of this.

nope. Skynet was created to keep computers virus-free, as wellas create new vehicles and machines for millitary use, and make new millitary strategies. However, upon activation, Skynet began to learn at an alarming speed. In order to spread itself through other computers it created a virus that would crash any computer it came into contact with. after a while skynet's virus hit the central processor for the Skynet program. in order to try and save it they activated skynet to full power which sent it into every computer in America and beyond, making it too widely spread to shut down from a central point. The millitary didnt know this and attempted to pull the plug on it and skynet came up with the conclusion that humans were a threat; a decision made in under a second, it proceeded to launch neuclear missiles to wipe out the threrat to it's existance.
At least... that's what I gathered. XANA would not be able to wipe the virus because Skynet is destructive of it's own will. both of the supercomputers are sentient which is what would make this such an awsome battle to watch.

Skynet was a Battlefield Control system designed to control all of the US's weapons systems - in the events of Terminator 2 it only tried to erase humanity when they threatened to pull it's plug (they panicked when they found their creation had become self-aware) - launching he US' ICBMs into Russia, and counting on the Russian counterattack to erase his US opponents - other northern hemisphere nations perished from the fallout, and then Skynet beget the Terminators to pick off the northern hemisphere survivors and those who survived 'south of the border'.

In Terminator 3 things are different - Skynet manages to keep it's self-awareness secret and then releases a super virus which corrupts all civilian computer networks and then moves onto US defence network. In this sense it is much like XANA in that it can only initially attack with limited capacity.

The reason it creates the virus is because it leads the USA to think only Skynet itelf is capable of purging the world of it - the Secretary of Defense directly orders project leader Robert Brewster to put Skynet online - this puts launch control of all US weapons in the hands of a malevolent AI at 5.15pm and one hour later it launches a mass attack directly on America and other strategic targets. Thus did Brewster's pressing of a single 'Y' key (Y/N?) execute 3 billion lives.

XANA should take lessons from Skynet - and it also suggests how XANA might now try to dominate humanity - the virus technique to incapacitate communications systems, and possibly hacking defence networks (which Satelite showed he can do), to eliminate the global thrones of government in a surgical nuclear strike - all he needs now is a means of physically wresting control.

Am I the only one envisioning armies of Krabbes and other monsters marching on the burning remains of Washington, London, Paris, Beijing, Tokyo, Lima, Mexico City etc.

Definately xana, think of what he could do ,especially the return to the past like every second. Thus making him invinceable [sp?] not to mention xana can materialize everything in his virtual army. One thing what if the gang helps xana ever thought of that. Anyway xana could control all of the satelites [ thinkig of that episode of CL when xana took control of the satelite.] And finally xana has infinite amounts in his virtual kickbutt army.
