I swear, read through some of these pages and you see a perfect model of what's wrong with the world - often the threads are polite, helpful, the posters enjoying mild debate.

Sometimes however, things will go way out of line - and you'll have 500-post threads where people just scream at each other over differences in religion, politics, nationality, sexuality, ethnicality etc.

It really makes me sick, and always makes me grateful that LF is the exact opposite, a place where people can just relax and chill and enjoy themselves.

Oi, there is a reason I love this form and it's because where like a family here over other board nwhere people just talk.

I must agree that this place is quite peacful and we are able to talk and debate without any major setbacks. There are of course some occasions where this breaks down, but that is inveitable in every society. Let's keep up the good work guys, because LF is one of the greatest forums to be at today.

It was for a while. Then I showed up with my disreguard for the show, very different way of handling and approaching social problems, complete disrespect of homosexuals, and my next door neighbor For a while there, I thought things would never be calm again

I agree. It's a relief to find a forum where people aren't spam-happy, rude, and un-excepting to other people's opianins. It's a fun debate most of the time, and I love it.

I think part of it has to do with the excellent admins and mods we have here. Erynn laid down the ground rules from day one, and well all respect her enough to uphold them.

I agree, it is pleasant to have a place where there can be calm, rational discussions that don't turn into screaming debates.

I really think we outta thank the oldest members here, for setting up a chain reaction.
Their posting habits spread as people joined this forum, so it was their <s>fault</s> responsibility to set us the right tracks.

I'm a member of the imdb myself, but i dont particapate in the forums, namely for the reasons already mentioned.

However, I dont think that the site should solely be judged on its forum alone.
It's extensive library of information on anything to do with visual media is good enough. Plus voting for films allows others to see the general public views on a film/show rather than one reviewer from a magazine or what have you.

Heck I said as much in the documentary I made - we are the ultimate CL fan-forum. i.e. does any other English forum have:

The VAs
That interview with the score composer
The attention of the director

LF wins. LF totally wins. I am only on two forums and both of them are great to be on- the Nutboard is the other one, and that's like a grown-up version for X-men fans.

Besides all the nice debates and things, we also have threads just to go crazy- that's nice, too.

This place is my second home....the first being my apartment here..but seriously, the mods here are supercool, not stuck up and on powertrips like on other forums. I am grateful to everyone here for making this forums what it is. I know that if we keep things going the way they are...then this forum will live forever..and other forums will ph34r our 1337ness... either that or wise up and be like us...but we are unique:D

Seeing this rant started about IMDB’s threads being a place of hate and evil, they have done one good thing. They've enabled the option to cast votes on CL.
