Final Fantasy on film

Postby Pika53 » Wed Jun 07, 2006 5:50 pm

Just curious about your thoughts concerning the Final Fantasy movie "The Spirits Within" and the recently
released "Advent Children". I've got a few thoughts about both films but plan to post them later.

I've never watched a Final Fantasy movie before. I never knew they were released in English.

I have Advent Children, and I've seen Spirits Within...both are very good (with AC being better because its from FFVII, t3h pwnzorz).

Advent Children...that was the one that FF 7 correct?...if so I want to watch that one, especially if it follows the game closely. I would watch that one first, then based on how I like it, then I would probably watch Spirit Children.

Though I do agree with you, I think that the reason SW didnt go over so well and AC did was because that AC was built off of the most popular game of all time.

Critics just dont understand Final Fantasy like we do.

Spirits Within was alright at best, and ADvent Children was just pretty eye candy. Can't say I cared for either of them except the technical aspects.

I hated Advent Children with a burning rage in the pit of my soul, because I hate Final Fantasy 7 with a burning rage in the pit of my soul. Or, as I affectionately dub it, 'SOME CRAPPY GAME NOBODY WAS REALLY EXPECTED TO PLAY BUT LOOK THAT GUY HAS A HUGE SWORD AND THAT GUY WANTS TO BLOW UP THE WORLD WOW.' Or, 'Fanboy Bull$#!@ Seven.' Depends on my mood.

I can't even remeber The Spirits Within. I think I liked it, because it had nothing to do with Final Fantasy. Can't remember.

Advent Children was pretty good, considering I have never even played FFVII. I have also seen Spirits Within, and was less than impressed..The ending was a definite turn-off for me.

Personally, I rather liked Advent Children because of the graphics and the fact that it closely followed the game. Given the fact that I only own FFVII and FFVIII, the story in "Advent Children" really appealed to me. Although I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't find a comentaries section when I rented the film. The graphics were also very good in "The Spirits Within", but I couldn't help but feel lost by the story and therefore had a hard time figuring out what was going on.

I just saw Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. It was great; I especially like the part when Cloud says "There's nothing that isn't important to me." I also liked the ending, when happiness was finally restored to the world. "I'm not alone..." is my second favorite quote. As of now, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children is my favorite movie; no other movie I've ever seen has had a storyline so sad as this. :)

I saw Advent Children, but I've never seen Spirits Within. I watched Advent Children in Japanese with subtitles because the English version made me cringe horribly.
Bang, baby.
