As I quote when my dad saw me reading that article:

Me: Yeah, apparently myspace is involved with terrorism now. Don't blame the poor parenting, don't blame the impressionable children, blame myspace.
Dad: hm.

I've noticed the more we're told not to be impressionable, the more we are. We're raised with cartoons showing only rainbows, gumdrops and sunshine. You're taught to believe everything you hear by the media, and that's why this crap happens.

My bad. I guess I must be in my left mind.

I've been keeping in touch with someone in the middle east through myspace myself! ^^

Before you judge me, know that this guy was once an exchange student at my school and just recently went back to Turkey. He's not a terrorist either.

Clearly, myspace is involved with terrorism. SOMEHOW. xD;;;

And you just now noticed that? o.O

Almost everyone in my classes has a MySpace... and the teachers looked at the school computers' internet history... and they saw MySpace... and gave us a huge lecture... and told us how disappointed they were that most of the students' look like this:

"Hello, my name is insertnamehere and I go to insertschoolhere. I live at insertaddresshere in insertcityandstatehere. You can contact me by email or by phone at insertphonenumberhere"

And an additional page for almost all the females in those particular classes,

A picture of them in a bikini with a description saying "I'm a/an insertagehere-year-old single black/white female. Here I am at the beach.

It's basically saying, "I'm an idiot; kill me now."

And with all the professional "Michael Jacksons" and "Adolf Hitlers" running around in MySpace, it's no surprise it's considered being associated with terrorism. But it's still a good place for businesses to advertise :P

...wha' thuh hell.

Time to predict the obvious again: we're surrounded by brainless idiots. Geez, someone could be like 'Hi, my name is Ned! I'm 0.235 years old and I work as a clown in Cafe Bearbear 'n I like hugs!' when it's actually 'OMGLOL I WAN KILL JOO WID A BOM ON FRI WANNA CUM' on it!

This is why I think Myspace is strange. Very, strange.

That is why I am never going to get a Myspace. The only reason I am allowing myself to visit that site is because of the band blogs-they have free music.

I think that the most obvious thing to do to avoid getting Interhunted is to never personally meet anyone that you only know on the Internet. Trust me, I almost made that mistake. Please don't ask.

How stupid can you get, really? Lying to your parents about meeting someone in one of the most war-torn places on Earth, which had a 50/50 chance of being a hoax. She had to at least have SOME sense, geez...

The girl in that artical deserves to be shot in the head.

Why on Earth would they even bother making an artical about that? It's just another teenage girl being a rebel and nearly getting themselves killed.

Reminds me of all the controversy over video games, and a quote from "Ctrl+Alt+Del."

"We just got news, three people were killed over an X-Box."
"Oh my God! Someone was killed over a console?!"
"Well... no... But there was one in the apartment, so that's the take we're looking for."
Bang, baby.

*Sigh*

Myspace is only dangerous because there are stupid teens/people in general out there who are actually dumb enough to pull stunts like this girl did. Personally, I have a myspace, and it is perfectly safe if you watch what info you put up (saying you are single, for example, is dangerous, and may incur creepy stalkers..) and only add people you know in real life or online buddies that you trust.

*nod* I have a MySpace too, and I only use it to communicate with my friends that live far away, and my brother and sister who're living on a Navy base.

If we started shooting people in the head for being stupid then we'd solve all our overcrowding problems...

Yeah, they made an article on it, so people can laugh about someone who is just as stupid, but got unlucky

But what is really annoying is that this is the kind of thing that makes the internet look bad, just because some people are idiots and believe everything they hear, doesnt mean the rest of us are,

Because people are too lazy to learn HTML and make their site look professional. I prefer paid hosting with HTML-based cPanel either way :)

You know...MySpace was useful for new band's music and for info about celebrities and other events. And some of them are really trusted.

But I know many of you guys avoid or hate MySpace because of stalkers (and the ads as well as taking loads of time to get some random punk's MySpace site working well, which to me is the main reason why MySpace would suck). Well...hello? Stalkers have always existed!! And if you think they do more damage on MySpace... think again, chatrooms and IM services are the most important things when they hunt their preys.

I'm really sick of reading people who say MySpace sucks just because of the stalkers. They always existed, and there's ways to avoid them on MySpace. Simple: set your d*mn profile to private. Unless you're the kind of people who wants to be seen by everybody.

Well said, Rodri. MySpace is like the rest of the internet and the world.

When I was little, the big rule was "don't talk to strangers" and because of technology at the time, I only had to worry about people I met on the street or who came to knock on the door (and the rule there was "don't answer the door when mom and dad aren't home")

Now kids can get on the internet, and the rule is the same. Don't talk to strangers on AIM, YM, MSN, ICQ, forums, myspace, friendster, email, or anything else.

I have a myspace. I held off getting one for a long time. But then I went to a concert and the drummer of the band asked me if I had one, and when I said no, he gave me strict orders to get one, so I could keep in touch with the band. Since then, I've added mostly bands and people I know in real life or through forums like this one regarding a common interest. I'm twenty-six, and I do not add just anyone who sends a request, because I don't know them, and I don't want just anyone reading my blog (which is locked to friends).

It's like someone said up above...every bad thing that happens these days, we're increasingly reluctant to blame bad parenting or childish stupidity.

So let's go ahead and keep medicating our kids when they act out in school! Let's blame everyone but the parents! Because we all know that a mom and a dad working full time who can't leave their work at the office and have cell phones glued to their ears over dinner are doing a stellar job of raising their kids.

But this is neither the time nor the place to talk about my experiences with parents at the day care I used to work at. D:
