Heelys (what a stupid name)

Postby codeTONY » Sun Jun 18, 2006 3:47 pm

Does anyone here own a pair of Heelys?

You know... those shoes with the wheel in the heel...

I just got a pair yesterday, and I still can't do it...

Personally I think it belongs on the 'merchandise that Tekirai thinks are stupid' list, next to the Hip Hoppa. IT'S A FREAKIN' BALL OF FOAM ON A STICK!

*cough* Anyway, I think they're pretty pointless. o__O; You could just buy a pair of trainers, make a hole in the sole (rhymey!) and stick a wheel in...

They were a trend at my middle school for a little while. I never got into them.

Abercrombie & Fitch > Heelys.

And both are really pathetic.

My friend Rizzma has a pair and on the last day of school, she popped out the wheels and went flying down the hallway and tossed her open-binder down the hall and papers went everywhere.

Personally, I think they're stupid. Just get some rollerblades, it's basically the same thing. I'll stick with my skull Vans and worn-out All Stars, thanks.
Bang, baby.

Some of the kids at my school have them. They don't wear helmets with them...shouldn't you wear a helmet when you rollerblade? They're pretty much the same thing, or maybe even harder. They have to lean on their heels.
Before I knew about Heelys, my cousin had shoes like them and I was like WHOA THEY HAVE WHEELS IN THEM. (That was a long time ago.)

Our school has put them on the Things Students Cannot Wear list, due to the fact that kids would be rolling down the halls at breakneck speed and crash into the people they didn't like on purpose, then roll away before a teacher could catch them. But most people ignore that rule, just like they do with the No Short Skirts rule, the No Spagetti Straps rule, the No Undergarments Showing rule... I could go on. But I won't.

They've been banned at my school, because everyone over here eigher does sports, is into Anime, or is A boarder/Skater/Biker... and most are the the third one...

Mneh, I'm a mix of three.

I made my own pair once.
let's just say they didnt work too well.
I made them out of 6 inch platforms and the wheels off of an off of an office chair.
The only way to stop was to put the front of the shoes down.
Thats how I discovered inertia :D
Still got the scars to prove it.

Those and rollerblades are banned at my school because they're dangerous.

I find them rather pointless. :/
I've found new things in life and have moved on. Sorry to anyone who cared about me and considered me a friend, but I'm gone.

XD I considered making an OC character that owned the skate shoes (the ones similar to the heelys, only they have two wheels). I used to own a pair of those (still do actually) which I intended to use for exercise and for an easier walk to places.

Good thing I decided to practice with them in the safety of a park instead of just trying them out on a regular sidewalk (near a street) as I nearly killed myself. XD And I got laughed at by other people in the park (including the friend who was accompanying me to make sure I didn't get myself killed on those). ^^;

The really skate-like ones have no breaks on them...and they take alot of practice to get used to (more so than regular roller blades, I'd think). I still like the idea of them though...they remind me a bit of Kim Possible's skate/shoes...just more low tech. X)
