Summer Work

Postby Chosen_one » Mon Jul 10, 2006 11:24 pm

Do your parents assign any school-related work for you to do over the summer? My parents said that Americans have to do a lot of work. Is that true at all?

It all depends on the school, class, parents, and a whole bunch of other crud.

My sister had to read "The Power of One," for school reading, and I'm taking Summer classes (I want to take chorus next year).

No, I mean do your parents assign you extracurricular assignments that are related to scholastic topics but have no real impact on your schoolwork?

That never happened to me. But if it's happening to you... I'm sorry.

It happened to me a few years back. I was having trouble with math so my mom ordered this thing called "Hooked on math" to do over the summer. She wanted me to do math problems everyday for at least an hour. I was not a happy camper.

I don't really get any work to do except this year I have to 'practise practise PRATACTISE!' my piano stuff for my prep. test in November.

Which is technically school work, since I get taught at school. It's great when I miss Spanish, bwaha. *doesn't like it*

I like Spanish; learning foreign languages is one of my hobbies. Spanish would be my fourth language...

I'm doing the math my mom's making me do right now. It's from the 2001 17th Annual AMC 8; there are 25 problems. I barely had the attention span to do six...

My parents don't, but my teachers do..I ran into a teacher who knows I am taking one of his classes this coming year and he suggested several books for me to read that are not required for the course..And I got the distinct impression that I am going to be quizzed on them later, so I had better read them.

Our school doesn't assign any books to read over the summer, and my parents don't give me anything to do. However, I do have to take care of my mother for the rest of the summer. She just got hernia surgery. :/
Bang, baby.
